I know the 5th competition just ended but i can't help but think of tunes for the next one. Don't get me wrong, I think there should be a significant break between the two, so this thread is not designed to rush the upcoming of the next one, just to make some suggestions for the tune. Anyway... here are my choices so far:
Orbital - Halcyon (On+On)
Chris DeBurgh - Lady in Red
Spice Girls - Viva Forever *you guys can start laughing at this point, it's ok*
Mariah Carey - My All
I know some of those tracks may seem rediculous at first sight, but please be open-minded and LISTEN to them first before commenting. Thanks and i'm waiting for your opinions =) Feel free to add to the list btw... |

Hmm...
I wouldn't dare touch Halcyon +On +On, it's too big of a classic for me to mess around with... and the others are just... well... not something I'd touch either (for other reasons). |

I think that it will be better if we can remix good new tunes without remixes yet like:
Rmb - Feel the flame / Touch the sky
Questia - crystal clouds
scott bond vs solar stone - naked angel ..:p

A vocal track gives a lot more creative freedom to the remixer. If i pick a non-vocal track, all the remix will be about is just using new synths for the same melody -- that's more of an equipment issue rather than a musical issue. I mean, of course you can make new percussions, new effects, new whatever -- but the melody will most likely stay the same and there's not much fun in that. If you have an acappella, however, you can often compose your own melody to the vocals and have much more creative freedom in the process. I guess that puts the focus of the remix on the music rather than the sound/equipment/fx (which are also important, but not fundamental).

modjo - lady is therefore very interesting in my opinion! not the usual female nonsense, plus the original was pure house music..
i think that would be a great challenge..
but i also think we have to wait a few months first.. we still have a TrancEaddict Anthem to produce! |
