Behringer DJX 700....Review after a few weeks of using (pg. 3)

From what I gathered: Effects aren't beat matched.... some are set on bpms (all under 135 i believe) and some are really bad. Surprised about this though since the effects are 24bit and considering the time they took to release this unit.

I have a ps-540i. I bought it for $50 used...

there are much much better mixers out there...but this is really good for the price.

pontiac-

I tested out his vmx300 yesterday to make sure. Yeah, I was drunk before. It's actually pretty similar to the gemini in terms of curve.
dj_pontiac
thanks IntegraR0064, just saw your gemini mixer on the post your setup pics thread
so u think itīll be ok for scratching? does your gemini also have curve adj?
i know i cant compare it to a vestax o ecler one, but i havent got many other options here in my country, thats why i want to make sure be4 i buy something

You say not to expect this mixer to compare to the DJM500/600. Can you guys be more specific about which aspects of this mixer dont compare? Is reliability, quality, feel of the components, effects? I'm willing to get this mixer if the EQ's and faders are real smooth. I could care less for the effects and beat counter and all that junk.

Ive never used a djm500 or 600, so i can't compare the two with a djx700. I can tell you that the effects are pretty useless... they are fun to play with for the first hour, but they just don't cut it. The eq's and faders are smooth, real smooth. they feel just right to me. Im not too impressed with the kill buttons. They are usable, you just have to time them right. They don't cut when you would think they would. But like i said, just time tem right. All i all though, the djx700 was well worth my 200$.

Hi My name is DJ Woody and I'm a Trance Addict!!!! LMAO... damn did I just sound like an AA member? LMOA... Anyhow, I had a problem beat matching but with different mixers. I have the Pioneer DJM3000 and before that I had the American DJ Q3433, When I moved on to the pioneer I couldnt beat match, and I found out it was because the quality of the output and the headphone jack reduce the added noise. So when I heard my self being off was because the new mixer allowed me to hear the extra instruments and notes that the ADJ mixer was taking off. I think that same scenerio could be happening to you. Maybe the DJX700 has a better output quality than the Gemini and therefore you can hear the music a lot more clearly on the DJX700 so it throws you off... Well, that's what happened to me, either that or I freakin suck at mixing! LMAO...

Hehe, me three.

I didn't want to teach myself to rely on the beat counters for my mixing.

trust me, with the beat counters on the djx 700 you won't be able to hehe
liquidmist2001
you can't rely on any beatmatching mixers to mix...i have a vmx100, the basic scratch mixer from behringer, and it's a pretty horrible beat counter unless you're playing some solid drums like PVD, and also, it likes to round, so if you have a song that's not exactly going 140bpm (just an example) you won't know it, unless you already know beatmatching...regardless of who makes the beatmatcher, it aint worth it...

ok so i'm a newbie to this forum and i was looking to see what other people thought about the DJX700. ive had it for almost a month now and i'm overall fairly satisfied with it.

a)there's only a couple people who've been posting on here who actually know what the hell they are talking about. why the hell would behringer make a mixer with 4 channels which could only play 2 at a time? why would they have a 4 channel mixer with a non-assignable crossfader? in the mixer industry these are givens, standards of the trade. all you had to do, if you don't own one, was look at the huge-sized picture provided on the behringer web site. listen to the people who know what they are talking about.

b)there is NO sampler on this mixer. many of the effects are not useful for certain BPM ranges. but, i have been able to use the echo and delay functions for 125-135 bpm quite successfully. the other good effect is the flanger. you can set the effects processor to any channel (1-4) or the master output. you can also listen to the effect processing prior to playing live, using the pre-fader listen with your headphones.

c)the kill switches on this mixer are fine. they do what they're supposed to, but i do have a small problem with them. the VMX300 kills were much better. you could either hold the kill for as long as you want, or switch it on completely. the kills on the DJX700 are a little harder to use, but as someone else on the board already said, you just have to time the kill right and you should be fine.

that's my 2 cents about it. i'm glad i bought it. it does everything the DJM600 does, except for sampling. great mixer for intermediate level DJs!

I got my DJX-700 just this week and its a great improvement from
my previous mixer, a Numark 1002X.

First of all, its big as a ing house, which is good. And cool.
Lots of flashy lights that you can show your friends when they say
that they dont "like that beat-ish kinda music".

But the sound is so much better then in the Numark, so much clearer
and much more detail to it. Not so much bass intensive as the 1002X
used to be.

The effects are cool if you use them when you are suppose to and
doesnt use them thru every song, then it gets repedative and boring.
And ugly.

Anyways, great mixer. Kill switches works great, knobs cuts down to
-32db (-16 something on Numark 1002x), faders works great and doesnt
crackle. Just great.

Glad I bought this one.

Has anyone that has used the DJX 700 also used the Pioneer DJM-600, or 500? I would like to get a second mixer so that I can put it in my car (for a mobile djing unit when I show my car etc). I want something that is durable and yet nicely functional as well as not costing anywhere near as much as a Pioneer, since it will be in my car and all. I still don't know if I want something that freakin big, but I'd at least like to hear how comparable these two mixers actually are.
