djx700 is an excellent mixer for the price

I bought mine at www.zzounds.com

It cost me 199.99, no sales tax to CA (only NJ I believe) and shipping was free.

It came within a week of ordering it, and they gave me the UPS confirmation number the day right after I ordered it online.

Great store.

alright, i've now had the mixer for a few weeks and here's my review so far:

sound quality is very good! i also like the assignable channels, although i only have turntables atm, hehe

the faders are very sensitive at top, i'm not used to the faders actually changing in volume. (my old stanton mixer had no change from 3 to 10, i'm used to slamming that bad boy and using the gains!)

trims don't kill the sound all the way, so you have to use the faders in conjuction, or just alone. i'm finding it tricky getting fading right, but then again, i need to get used to it.

the effects-filter and flanger seem pretty nice, but you don't hear it unless the effects volume is up past the middle. not so bad. only thing is, the effects on/off button (the round blue thing) is tricky to time right. so i find it much nicer and easier just to turn the effects vol. knob to min when i want to get rid of the effect that is on.

xfader-i dunno, don't use it. wish i had a lock feature though.

ease of use-pretty easy. looks complicated b/c of all the knobs, but it's really not!

having mids and kills are very nice!

one nice feature: you can kill the hi, lows, or mids. BUT you can lower them even further if you turn the knob for it down while the kill is on! :D

i haven't gotten any feedback, only got humming when my ground wire was ground to the wrong channel, and i have no distortion.

the surround sound feature: well you can certainly hear a difference, it seems as if the highs get higher, or something, but i can't tell, i only use a stereo to monitor. (although it rocks!)

all in all, i'm very very happy with this mixer. sure the djm600 is better. but you know what, it's not so much better that it's worth about $1000 extra dollars to get. $200 for this mixer is insane! :D :tongue2

I'm grabbing one of these as soon as my store gets them in stock.

Why don't you just hook up your decks to chans 2 & 3 and use the x-fader assign to put it to 1 & 4? That way the chan faders would be the only thing determining what's going to the master output...

My last message kinda disapeared into space so a shorter version:

The effects channel bleeds.
Enable effects on some channel while your disc/vinyl is playing
and it will bleed into master output no matter if you have
lowered the volume for that channel to 0.

Thats the only negative thing about the mixer that I have found tho.

guessing youre mixing with one ear on the headphones, first make sure the button of your cued channel is pressed. then, the most important thing is set the level of the headphones as the same level you hear the master outside ;) . set "mix" to "master" then start youre cued track . now slowly move it until you hear clearly both tunes togeher in your headphones. try to mix now.. more easy isnt it? good luck!

I wouldn't recommend this trick.. there are a lot of mixers who don't have this funcion (mixing between master and cue) so if you have to spin on another location it'll be harder to do a clean mix.
