i think Adam Beyer should win :P
or how about Jeff Mills.
It is interesing to see that there isn't a single techno DJ in the "top 5" i guess they all suck, oh wait, this isn't about being good it about "popularity", my bad :P
PvD being number one is a safe bet. |

How about the set we all heard Pvd at cp  |

personally i consider fleming's
style to be perhaps the most
sophisticated, unique and fuller
the dj mag poll don't measure
such attributes ;)
the vast majority of dj's are alike,
playing populist non-sense
a true artist differentiates
himself/herself @ all times
regardless of what is in vogue
flemings's creativity performing is
unparalled; masterfully creating
unpredictible sequences and keeping
the vibe going every second |

| technical ability does not make armin or pvd or j00f deserve the #1 spot more than Tiesto. if the poll were about that, no trance dj would deserve to even be on the list. you would see people like Jeff Mills, Q Bert, Andy C et. al at the top spots---now THAT's technical ability. |

2003=PVD!!
ps..for those who bash pvd, please just listen to this set..PVD LIVE @ INNERCITY 2000 or PVD LIVE @ CREAM AMNESIA 2002..then you make a comment :toothless |
the unfortunate thing though is that was in 2000 and 2002, this is for top DJ of 2003. You would make a better case if you recommended some sets from 2003. |

| PvD and Tiesto have both done a lot this year. I think it's going to be a close race. Even though I think PvD should win, I'm more expecting Tiesto to grab it again. |

I think PVD will take it this year. He plays tunes that are more on the commercial side (especially his latest album), and apeal to a wide audience.
Well he deserves some credit.;)

Let's not make this into a tiesto flame topic, but I think mixing ability and track placement are two of the most important aspects of being a DJ.
| quote: | Tiesto part 2 of Cream Amnesia Ibiza 29-07-2003:
10 Maskio - Can U Feel It?
11 DJ Tiesto - Traffic
12 Dahlback & Krome - Murder Was The Bass (Original Mix)
13 Jens - Loops & things (Marco V Remix)
14 Carlos Resoort - O'Class
15 Mark Norman - Rush
16 Moogwai - Neon
17 DJ Tiesto - Nyana
18 A Situation - The Situation (Liquid Life Remix)
19 Christian Rush pres. Alias - Missouri |
Listen to him attempt to mix Neon into Nyana. Tell me honestly that it doesn't hurt your ears? :conf: Like I've said I still respect him as a producer/remixer.
Bleh the top 5 spots on this poll are pretty meaningless because it's always the same dinosaurs, but it is helpful to up and comming DJs. That's why I voted for up and comming DJs.:) |

just heard it again, and i don't hear anything wrong with it. it works perfectly fine. there's no trainwreckl, the timing is right. Neon is in a major key and Nyana is precisely its minor dominant, making the flow very soothing for my ears. Call me crazy, call me stupid, but sharp contrasting mixes just like this one is what has made Tiesto my #1 for 5 years in a row. |

| There are a lot of people who deserve it more than PvD. Just because he had one or two great sets and released a CD this year doesn't mean he's deserving of the award. Frankly, I think Deep Dish should win. |

Energy 2003
Nature One 2003
Loveparade 2003
SS @ CP 2003
anyway...my votes are in this order..
PvD---i think he really deserves it this year, he's been doing a phenomenal job, and like Dinaire said, Reflection is a hell of an album. He's just had soooo many great sets this year.
j00f---'nuff said. this guy is the .
Tiesto---His Nyana CD and his amazing performance on May 15, 2003 at the Gelredome in Arnheim is why I love this man. Also, his 2003 July 4th set is amazing.
digweed---listen to his Kiss100 sets. he never fails to amaze me...his TL changes every time, and his mixing is outta this world. The only thing that doesn't make him number 1 for me is that he hasn't done much else besides the Kiss100 sets lately.
Armin---while he's a good dj, i just don't think he's good enough to be in the top 3. his sensation set this year was nothing spectacular, altho his ASOT's have been gettin better and his Radio 1 essential mix this year was decent. but he's just not good enough for me. |
