RESFEST 2003 DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL
RESFEST is an annual, global festival dedicated to showcasing innovative film, music, art, design and technology. Designed to support and inspire emerging talent, the festival kicks off each fall in the United States, and then journeys worldwide to over a dozen cities across six continents, building a global network of creators and audiences. The festival has supported breaking new talent, hosted visionary filmmakers, and pushed boundaries to rethink the visual language of cinema.
On this weekend, RESFEST is making their first ever stop in Washington DC, showing short films, music videos, Spike Jonze Rarities, and the feature film - Interstella 5555 : The Story of The Secret Star System by Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto. We are the people who have been doing the production for almost every major event in the Washington DC area for 7+ years. You may not know us as promoters, but we have always been there back stage making it happen. From sound to lighting to décor, we have been involved in one way or another. RE:MIX dc is held at the Dc Tunnel Event Center. But rest assure! We have worked very hard to do some well-needed renovations that you must come to see with your very own eyes! The venue boasts a 10,000 square foot wooden dance floor, 25-ft warehouse ceilings, multiple "refinished" bars, an upstairs 21 and over lounge with big comfy couches, rugs, and pillows, a front room lounge with plush seating in an artistic environment, and a new RE:MIX event staff. The venue is located at 2135 Queens Chapel Road NE Washington DC 20018.
10pm-5am
$15 at the door all night

Edit: I hope their soundsytem is better than Destination's was! If I'm not mistaken, these are the guys who broke off from DCSkillz. I don't give a damn about the decor & lighting if the sound still sucks.

Who's going to see Misstress Barbara this Saturday? I haven't seen Misstress Barbara since her set at Buzz in February 2002...she rocked! I'd much rather see Misstress Barbara than Deep Dish! I need my fix of techno!

CRAP!! only reason i was going to deep dish is cuz PTAH said he wanted to go so we got tix online before i even know about the tunnel events.. SHEESH>> should have read all those flyers sitting in my car.. looks like i have a EDM flyer stand in there!
still going to have fun.. but i think most of my friends are off to tunnel including people here!! |

Well hello there everyone. I am one of the promoters from RE:MIX and I came across this thread!!
My partner, Scott, and I wanted to let you guys know what exactly we have changed with the Tunnel, because I'm sure alot of you know it was pretty rough before!! :)
We have added to and competely changed the soundsystem which included repositioning the speakers, adding amps(almost 100,000 watts total) and new digital processing. We have added an acoustic baffold(curtain) to the room to eliminate any delay and "slap back" and to confine the low end(bass) to the center of the room. And just as a reference point, we now use the same speakers, quantity and processing as many of you heard at Starscape.
As for the rest of the venue,
The whole club has been repainted and cleaned. The main room has been completely painted black.
The bars have been relocated, refinished, cleaned, and painted. All the carpets have been thoroughly cleaned by a proffessional company. We have built dance blocks for everyone to get funky on. We have bought furniture, pillows, and have even cut custom shaped fuzzy carpets for the side rooms. The old drum and bass room is still closed until the club gets packed enough for it to open. And when that happens, it will too be completely renovated. But for now, it remains closed.
The other upstairs level is the new 21 and over Tiki lounge, completely painted from head to toe in a beeeaauuutiful new color. The bar has been completely refurbished. We have added more couches, beautiful decor, pillows, lamps, rugs, etc. It feels like someone's cool apartment up there.
We have worked things out with the bartenders to offer you guys drink specials before 11 and specialty tropical drinks in the Tiki lounge.
The front room, as we have told you before is the Fut:ure Cult:ure room to showcase local visual artists. This week Joey Dobbs is showcasing all his dj culture photographs. And they are really amazing pictures! Come see!! But in this room, we also will have tons of new furniture and pillows and fuzzy shag carpets for you to chill out on and watch movies. We will be showing Moonshine DVDs on the big screen for your viewing pleasure. So go get a drink, get your friends when your tired of dancing, and come lay on the rugs and pillows and looounge about.
But that's not it, for the gentlemen, we have gone extra special crazy up in there, wait till you see your new bathroom!! You better love us, cause the bathroom is stylin'. So stylin' it should have its own soundsystem. LOL
It really does feel like a different club. It is done with our own style, and we have put alot of personal time into the place. We hope you come out to see the difference and we hope you are pleased.
