I too heard In the Mood for Love was a great movie. I'm gonna have to rent it this weekend.
As for Lost in Translation, wasn't the final scene amazing? I still get a lump in my throat when I picture her face while he's whispering to her. I've never seen anything like it. |

This was a great movie. Not only was it funny, but it was a great love story while not being overly mushy. It's been awhile since I've seen anything this good, Bill Murray is hilarious.
And Scarlett Johannsen=uber hot. That helps too.:D |

I just saw this last week and really liked it... I really like Bill Murray's style of comedy and have liked him in pretty much every other film I've seen him in... plus, those shots of Japan did it for me, it has just moved up couple of spots on my ladder of places to see...
anyways, I'd definitely recommend this film to anyone... |

i thought this movie was a perfect remedy for imsomnia..
this will put u to sleep...omg..it seems like they paid the critics to highly review this film....francis coppola's daughter...(aka godfather's directors daughter)..
i loved groundhog day..with mr.murray...but this movie was a complete letdown after hearing all the hype..and not to mention and dwell on how boring the film was...
i like the camera angles...the long shots between the two main characters to show the tension between them..if they ever were goin to kiss....and some other misc funny parts...but over all this movie is another mediocre mumblejumble |

anyways, good movie. very beautifully done. i dont mind a "slow" movie as long as there is substance and beauty behind it. |

very huge culture shock, indeed.
for the most part i was enamored.. but after visiting, there is no way i'd want to live there. here is the main reason, summed up from my page i wrote about my trip to japan:
| quote: | | Toshi's dad had a conversation with me about relationships and stuff in Japan. I discovered that over there, you date a lot, and get married fairly young. Once you get married, the woman doesn't work. So there is basically no divorce rate. We were watching a talk show with marraige proposals, and the woman said she couldn't because she had a secret. Later they revealed that the secret was that she had been married before. I asked Toshi... wait, is that a big deal? He said it was. Women need to snag a man quickly... and so it seemed they were quite preoccupied with looking good, partially for that reason. Definitely a cultural difference that I wouldn't want to live in (getting married and then not having a job) |
i'm a computer science major, on my way to bigger and brighter things. no way would i willingly live in a place where i am doomed to be my husband's housekeeper, or a secretary. |

Kind of late here, but I felt this deserved to be brought up again.
Lost In Translation is one of those movies that didnt interest me from the trailers... Its on of the movies where te trailer just doesnt do justice. Not only that, but I was never a Bill Murray fan with his acting / comedy approach. Most of the roles he did I always felt they werent really right for him. So you can say that put me off as well. In this movie things are alot different. He finally found something that was right for him.
Like alot of people said, the movie's more atmospheric than plot driven from the first look. In the end, its the plot that makes the movie. The first half really gives character insite foward with Murray & Johansson, gets us knowing the characters and such. The second half lets them do thier thing. Great acting, great cimetography, great writing, everything is on spot. Sofia definitly knew what she was writing about when she did this. What can I say, I loved this movie.
