I think that this is the third thread that I've had to defend HoM now, and every time the same arguments come up. Well I'm not going to bother with them this time, if you don't like it then don't go there, I'm not overly concerned.
What I do object to, however, is the personal criticisms that some of you are making on DJ Rrebel. The man is providing you with dozens of gigabytes of tracks and all you can do is throw it back in his face by winging about the colour scheme or the review system. Does he owe you anything? Does he have to upload 4 tracks a day for no other reason than because he wants to share his passion for club music with everyone else? What right do you think you have to criticise him?
Like I said before, if you don't like it then just don't go there. Just don't insult us all and waste our time by sprouting cliched and - above all - misinformed abuse towards one of the most selfless people I know. |
I understand where you are coming from. I don't mind navigating the site, but it is not very user-friendly. In fact, it's very intimidating for less-than-savy net surfers out there. I'd figure with the user base he has in the forums, I thought someone, good enough in web design, would give his place a facelift. If he just use drop-down menus, it would unclutter his page up alot. It's not even that hard to do, unless he has very little time to re-engineer his site. Hmmm, I'm half tempted to volunteer. heh
Props for his tremendous effort and good heart, though. :D |

Yep, don't get me wrong, constructive criticism is a good thing, I don't mind people putting forward judgements like that at all. Hell, if I was king for a day there'd be a few things I would change about the site as well.
But, the point is, whatever gripes you have with the site, you at least owe DJ Rrebel some respect for the effort he's put in, and not enough people have been willing to grant him that, they've been too focused on the (relatively superficial) faults that the site has. |

seriously I loved Homeofmusic, and it had to be my favourite site to get trance, I'm just regretting that I didnt d/load all mp3z from there than I should of, everytime I log on the net,the first thing I do is that I look if www.homeofmusic.com has came back, DJRebel had the greatest trance site, despite the fact he had other types of club music as well, truly homeofmusic should of been called heavenofmusic, and DJ Rrebel was a saint. homeofmusic should was his life and he worked like their was no tomorrow. Did you know that he had a forum & reviews for every single mp3 that he posted? from October 1999 till June 2001!!!!!! Who would bother to do that? No one!
Saint DJ Rrebel- "Patron saint of club music sites" |

Im sure he has done more the music community than me, but its not what u can do for the music community, its what the music community can do 4 u. And how do u feel after u have downloaded a track with a 56k modem, then found it out 2 be an ordinary track after some one has described it to be sweet and brilliant?? |

That's just your bad luck! I DL 4-6GB of stuff a month on a 56k modem and if I don't like it I don't care, I just delete it. You should be able to know if a track is half good or not by at least knowing what the artist is capable of...I admit he may go a little over the top, but it's hardly worth bitching about...RRebel posted HIS views on the track not yours, so if you didn't happen to like the track, well I guess he can't please everyone can he? |

Not to bash the site some more, but it's not just the colour scheme that needs work...
There's loads of text everywhere, explaining every little detail of every little part of the site. There's just too much to the site, plain and simple. If it's home of music, why not make it strictly a music site? There are tons of other things like how to make money and stuff like that. Plus all of the stuff RRebel talked about wanting to do in their forums a couple of weeks back sounds like it's gonna clutter up the site even more. If you're gonna call it homeofmusic.com, stick to music.
IMHO, anyway :)
Oh, and Renegade: Are u a part of homeofmusic? It seems like you have some pretty strong opinions about it... |

I guess if you don't have a good background in web design, you won't be able to visually dismantle the chaos of HOM and be able to navigate it. But if your brave and willing, you'll get used the quirkiness in no time.
His colors schemes are hard on the eyes. :) |

| HoM color scheme and layout are distracting for hand & eye coordination movement. there were so many small fine prints, i couldnt even read. sometimes the guy talks like, u didnt know it was who who produced that track. i think it is disgrace to every trance site. |
