help! i can't listen to trance!

my winamp is eating 40+ megs of ram and is using up 90%+ of CPU... HELP!!
i've reinstalled like 10 times, 2.80, 2.81, 2.91, nothing... how can i fix it?
or what's a good alternative, stable, low-resource player with easy playlist searching / id3v1/v2 tag viewing? |

| Winamp should not be taking up that much of your system resources. Are you sure its not the files that are on wimap? |

run Winamp under WINE in Cygwin for Windows. |

go to start...
select run
and type
mplayer2

I heard that works if you put the speakers in the freezer for a bit too. |

Make sure you don't have any plugins running, maybe try turning the EQ off or something. Did you uninstall all of them before you installed the other versions?
Try that if you didn't.
If winamp is really important to you, if worst comes to worst a format will fix it.
