Mushroom Growing Conditions

Sorry for posting another thread where there's probably a load of identical threads, but the search dunction's not workin + mushy season aint gonna last forever!!!
So, what's the best place to find em? I heard golf courses, but i cant really go there as the 2 near my house are pretty open and i'd prob get caught.
I saw a few growing under a tree there this mnornin, but they wern't the magic type.
But, when walking to get my bus this morning i did manage to find a few growing along the road but they looked pretty dead. big long thin stem, with a small enough roundish head??

the grow in cow . seriously, its the best place to find them. The kabenzis grow only in cow. Its weird, dont ask me how.
The other place I always find them is at a thousand feet or so above sea level in damp shady places. Anywhere with logs decaying or something they are bound to be in the vicinity. The best place I have still is a 20 foot wooden walk bridge surrounded by dying logs and pretty thick undergrowth like ferns and broad leaf skunk cabbage kind of stuff. I typically find them in patches of 15-30 |

and what you are looking for in a mushroom is a band of "fur" around the stem. Mushrooms arent for the initiate hehe. THere are things like does the flesh tear like chicken, or does it break. If it breaks, its poisonous. the fur rings usually indicate being able to eat them, but the kabenzis arent going to have one. We have blue ringers here and the mushroom is a purplish blue with a ring of orange fur around it.
I would talk to some people about the local fungus before I went out searching. |

I grow mine home, and those are one of the best.
You wont find the REALLY good mushrooms anywhere, you'll find decent ones maybe, but not the best ones. |

| be careful finding your own mushrooms if you dont know what you are doing. there are a lot of poisonous ones that grow in the same conditions. |

well now, this is the "Chill Out Room", not the music discussion forum, and you're notice that in the chill out room there are VERY FEW posts about music.
Also, you'll find that many people - not all, but a lot, who are into this type of music are also quite fond of drugs of some sort.
and i prefer to post to this forum, as it's kinda like my home, hate goin to other message boards, too hard to keep track of them all..

Shes 100% right, about 95% of all mushrooms are deadly, and if you eat the wrong one you'll die within 24-48 hours. |

yeah my dentists wife was picking mushrooms in her back yard to eat(probably for a salad or something, hopefully) she ate some and she died. very sad.
picking your own mushrooms is a bad idea if you arent a mushroom specialist(i forgot the technical name of mushroom person). at least bring a field book with you or something. for god sakes be careful. |

Mushrooma are legal in loads of places.
