To elaborate on what brunette said...
Malek, and the rest of you, I think the point Durafei has raised is that public or not public, what the hell is the problem with it? How is this picture offensive!?
Honestly, some bitches take this too far, they insist that the world needs to be totally asexual or something. I'm sure these are the same types of people that can't take a compliment from any guy and go to watch the Vagina Monologues later on. It's not even about political correctness, it's just totally asinine.
I can practically guarantee you that if a group of women posted up the opposite sort of picture, it would stay. People feel the need to constantly nag and bitch about how men are still "opressing" and "degrading" women with such pictures  as if we've got something to apologize for. |

So you think a pic like that creates a good image to visiting faculty? What about other people who visit that lab? You gotta reemember that this is a school! Those chicks are nasty too. They're not pinup girls, they're sluts and that's obvious. If girls put up the same pic it would be taken down too, how does the person putting up the pic have anything to do with it? |

| If I was Waterloo administration I would have asked you to take down that poster as well. They don't care about politically correctness, they just don't want any trouble. That bitch who complained is the one with the problem. I say you find out this girl's phone number and post an ad in the Now magazine 'escorts' section with the number. Crude but payback's a bitch. :D btw, I completely agree with DigiNut on the opposite picture scenario. |

Interesting conclusion... so you know these girls personally, or what?
Maybe you are PP, I should rethink this.
Again, I don't understand "good image"... good image to who? Just because one person is offended, does make it offensive. I'd be willing to bet that the girl who bitched is insecure and hasn't gotten any action in a while. |

| My question would be, where is this person when Gay Pride Day rolls around and what does she do then? lol... :clown: |

I'm sure she's probably right out in front... the people who cause over these things are notoriously hypocrites. |

I find that to be normal. I think you shouldn't be allowed to put such posters in the first place (or any non comp. related posters, say for a band or such). I mean this is a uni lab not your bedroom.
personally, I wouldn't mind them, but I understand why they wouldn't be allowed

I wont complain, because I don't like bitching. one thing for sure, I wont be comfortable with seeing a poster with two men kissing infront of me while I am trying to get my wprk done |

As I said earlier, there are no girls in our class. If I walked by a poster of two men kissing I probably would've felt uncomfortable and probably pissed, but definitely not offended. And I sure as hell would not complain. |

ya I got you
what I was trying to say is; it shouldn't be allowed to be put up in the first place, not take it off b/c someone got offended.
I have no problem with it, but I understand the person in charge wont allow it for the uni. image |

You guys are all missing the point of this post though.
WHY is this obscene, inappropriate, why shouldn't it be allowed, etc.?
Can someone honestly state what's wrong with it?
It's just that people in this society have been trained to believe that "pornographic" images are somehow "wrong." Try meeting some European girls, they'll have very different opinions of all this... |

you just answered to it yourself

We're not in Europe (even Europe have many moral standards).
In Canada this poster is still inapropriate, maybe in the UK its all right, maybe in Singapour its not, etc.
Having this poster in an university, means in some way or the other that the university is endorsing it, which was obviously not the case.
Personnaly, I think the poster is cool, but has no place inside an university. A place where people go to learn and exchange ideas, not a place to exhibit sexuality.
Its called respect, for yourself and the others around. |
