translates to (word-for-word) "The bread better" ?? what is that supposed to mean?
I give you the 'typo' excuse though. You might have wanted your nick to be: "DasBrotMesser" -> The bread knife |
LOL finally! I was waiting for some crazy German to notice my name and freak out. Actually, it's from an inside joke between me and some friends in German class. There was a dialogue in the book where this guy finished up by saying, "Ja, da ist das Brot besser," and for some reason we just started cracking up, and now whenever we're saying something is cool, we just say, "Ja, da ist das Brot besser." After all, it IS the better bread... |

Definitely is the most commonly mispelled word. Seriously, pay attention to it, I rarely see it spelled correctly. Doesn't bother me, but it always catches my attention.
'ur' definitely annoys me tho. |

Peopel who don;t pay attention to teh words they are typing abotu.
That is usually what my threads look like before I go back and proofread them. I transpose a lot of letters and always seem to put semicolons instead of apostrophes. Don't know why I do that.

i'm just going to respond to several things mentioned because i don't want to quote everything...
yes, i'm a grammar and usage nazi. yes, i usually do not capitalize. yes, i recognize the irony because i know irony is the opposite of what you would expect, not a coincidence. many people say ironic when they mean coincidence.
i do not fault people who don't speak english natively when they post. foreigners usually speak and write better english than most americans and brits.
i'm not "delicate" because i think people should have respect for the rules of the english language. if you can't express yourself effectively, i get the impression that you're unintelligent. it's hard to wade through a poorly written, rambling post so i normally don't even read them.
as for my biggest grammar peeve: very unique. unique is defined as "one of a kind," so there can be no degrees of uniqueness. something is either one-of-a-kind or it's not. an item cannot be "somewhat unique," "kind of unique," or "very unique." it's the one thing i always correct people on because it's like nails on a chalkboard. |

Thanks Daffy, you reminded me of some more pet peeves with that one.
