I just wasted (yes wasted!):whip: $14 of my hard earned cash for PvD's "Reflections" CD!:wtf: . I cannot believe what a some of the tracks are. :whip: I heard some PvD Tracks before that were "ok" but nothing that would be so bad you coudn't listen to them. Not even Jan Jonston could save some of them. And lyrics??? :wtf: Maaaan! I long for days when Trance was music only, no words. Especially when someone like PvD writes a RAAAAAAAAAAAP SONG? FUNKIN RAP SONG??? :whip: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PAUL! YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE THIS DIVERSIFIED! :whip: I mean what's next? PvD will be writing country songs or Alt Rock? :wtf: :nervous: Hell, stick to trance, mate!

Maybe I am nuts but aside from the usual tracks that are played all the time the CD was a huge disapointment.

That's my $14 worth of opinion. Am I wrong or what?

:nervous:

actually you are right, the album was a dud. Paul Van Dyk went to more vocal tunes then the vocal less emotional trance that he is so good at making. Should have spent your money on Hybrid's Morning Sci-Fi, Unkle's Never Never Land or Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place (my top 3 albums for 2003 so far). Get them all, they all rock.

I dunno...I've been enjoying it more everytime I listen to it. The only thing that I don't like about "Knowledge" is that I can barely understand what the guy is saying. I especially am liking "Homage", the more I listen to it. The track "Reflections" kinda annoys the hell out of me, though. Overall, however, the cd's not that bad.

I think people aren't liking it cuz it's not typical PvD style. It's definetly no where near his other albums but it's pretty well produced IMO. Main problem is too many vocals and it's a bit too commercial...not what I expected from PvD but still a decent album.

Just wanted to add too that you should definetly either listen to a cd or read reviews on the boards here before you spend your money on it. That way you won't be "wasting" your money.

Well, you gotta remember that this is his first produced album in three or four years. He's gonna sound different after all of those years. :tongue2 And I have yet to grasp the concept of why sounding commercial is an issue with anything.

As I said in other threads, I liked it. It was a bit weird in places, but there's enough of a PVD feel that I never felt betrayed like I did when I popped in Emotional Technology.

you can't please everybody all the time. or even some of the time. You can only hope to please some people some of the time. There's always going to be people complaining about the music... that's why there's SO MUCH of it.

If you don't like what a DJ is becoming, find another that better suits you. Hell Joakenfold used to be my favorite DJ at one point (long LONG ago) and I liked PVD up to a point but you're right that album is weak. People seem to forget that there are other DJs in this world other than Joakenfold, Tiesto, PVD, Sasha and Diggers.
Just go find another one that plays more of the tracks you like.

one thing ive learned over the years is to never bash an artists' orignal works. these guys do this music thing as a profession. money is very hard to come by for many musicians. van dyk is @ a point in his career where his popularity as a dj has allowed him to experiment more with his music, and to produce stuff that is more for himself. the tracks arent just all "crowd pleasers".

ive listened to the cd a few times through. some of the songs are going a bit leftfield, but i dont dislike any of them. a few of them, youd never even guess they were PvD; and if you didnt know they were PvD, then you probably would like them. artists songs should never be bashed, even if the songs or tracks do lack in certain areas. its a form of self expression, and if you dont feel what that artist was feeling at that particular time when he/she created the track, then skip to the next.

i didnt like it either...i mean ig he wants to change his style, move on,try new things and all that do it but he should know he is better in producing the usual pvd stuff...and he should leave out all these vocalz..anyway...

The first few listens I wasn't too sure about but it has certainly grown on me.It is an album after all and you can't really expect it to sound like a mix cd or a PvD live set.
