Do dj's play old songs? what do you think the chances of PVD dropping seven cities at his next live show, for instance. Does this ever happen or is it unheard of as everyone is always trying to be "cutting egde".

just wondering (i dont get out much :eyespop: )

sure DJs play older songs all the time, gabrield and dresden played a song from 99 in their essential mix at the begining of the year, PvD playing an older track he has done it but he usually keeps to very cutting edge, it all depends on the DJ and how the track fits in the set, some DJs love older songs so they still drop em others forget about songs every month

Yeah PvD dropped Jonsey - Independence at a recent gig
Stanza
Yeah I'm pretty sure Oakey drops a few classics in his Essential Mixes. Happens quite occasionally.

PVD played For An Angle at Einheitsrave :eyespop: :eyespop:

Always play a classic your sets, it gets everyone revved up :D

It's only very rare sets (usually radio sets like ASOT) that don't have at least one classic thrown in....
Mr Game+Watch
Armin throws in a lot of old sets when he plays.. including Seven Cities.

"00" Fleming throws a couple of classics here and there, it's pretty awsome:D

Usually the longer the set, the greater the chance that the DJ will drop a classic or two. If a DJ is only spinning for an hour he'll probably want to show off some new records but if he's slotted in for a 4 hour set, say, there's no way he'll bang out brand new stuff for that long. And there's something to be said for throwing in an older tune towards the end of a gig (ala Armin playing Li Kwan - Point Zero in his e-mix). As long as the DJ exercises moderation (ie, doesn't play all old stuff) and discretion (ie, doesn't play Silence :p) then I think it's a great way to spice up a set. The TAs will get a kick out of it and the rest of the folk will dance no less for a five-year old tune than a five-day old one.

I forget who it was but one DJ put Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name Of in their set and I thought that was in' cool :)

Tiesto played Katana - Fancy Fair in either his Dance Valley or Mysteryland set this year (forget which).
