there are quite a lot of things that are shoved down our throats by the media. that's why i haven't turned on the tv in 2 weeks and haven't read / seen the news in several months. it's just not worth losing your nerve cells over some retarded news broadcast or something of the sort. |

Without trying to sound totally arrogant, I'd like to point out that my "controversial" opinions are most likely a partial result of me NOT relying on the mainstream media.
I don't watch news on TV. I tune in once every few days to watch the Family Guy or the Simpsons, and that's about it. I read newspapers once in a while, and not the same paper every time. Frankly, I think that if something isn't important enough for me to hear through the grapevine, it's not important enough for me to hear at all. When I hear it through the grapevine, it usually means that by that time there's been enough published on it to actually get some objective info.
I've heard of David Blaine, but in all honesty I don't really have a clue what he does (other than "magic tricks") and can't see why anyone would care. And yes, I'm very happy with my attitude, because if I have the choice between being partially ignorant of pop culture and being educated through rose-tinted glasses, I choose ignorance. I don't want to know what mainstream media's opinion is, because the mainstream media's opinion is bull.
Don't pay attention, and you won't have crap crammed down your throat. I wish everyone would do this, we'd be a lot more intelligent as a society. |

Hearing it through the grape vine usually means it was rooted from the mainstream media.
In actaulity, i think its safe to watch the mainstream, just to see how ignorant some of the things they spew out are. I usually watch mainstream news just to criticize or even laugh at their news coverage. |

but it makes me so braindead in a bad kind of way... like, sometimes it feels nice to just send everything to hell and watch mindnumbing shows for entertainment but not take them seriously... i can actually feel the tv "chewing at my brain", lying on the bad feeling like a mentally retarded person who has no idea where they are and what the hell is going on. but i do agree that sometimes information is knowledge and you learn a lot through BAD examples, of how you shouldn't do things. man, lost my train of thought. |
