Well, being as lazy as I am, I cant be arsed with reading that. But here's my thoughts on the matter:

The Architect said that the first Matrix was a perfect world, but that most humans who were linked to it died because the human brain couldn't comprehend a 'perfect world'. So a program (the Oracle) was written to figure out what makes humans tick. She found out that humans need a random element of choice to survive - there has to be a good and evil, or a right and wrong, left or right etc...

So a new Matrix was written that incorporated this random element into the scheme of things. The only problem is, computers cannot create a random numbers etc of their own accord - it's just not possible. The only thing that can truely create a random number or make a decision purely upon personal preference is the human brain.

So the Matrix was connected to a human: The One. It was The One's brain that created the element of randomness in the Matrix. So in effect, The One can manipulate the matrix however he wants. This also explains how Neo was able to control the machines in the real world in Reloaded.

In the third film, I think Neo will realise this, and end up killing himself, as this will create a missing piece of the Matrix, and the program will crash, freeing all of the humans and leaving the machines without a power source and hence, they are destroyed and humans are now free.

Tada!!!

:p

that so simple and effective that i think that's the best theory i've heard so far

hey, that was my theory!
i explained it in an earlier thread about the matrix.
i hope we're right, we could be hailed as prodigies

however, the theory at the start of this thread is way more convincing. I've said it once and i've said it again, The Wachowski Brothers are looking to make the most philosophical, symbolic and complex movie ever made. i luv it
Shad0wmaster
WOW!
great read, but some people have wayyyyy too much time on their hands. I think that first one was overanalyzed, all that symbolism can't possibly be totally relevant. I prefer the second theory...very simple yet effective.

Intresting theory... but its wrong... reason: Smith is a virus... it is evident because at the end of the first film Smith explains that a virus comsumes every natural resource then moves to another place... Smith does this in reloaded... when smith copies himself onto someone... The "Smith" code overrides the human code... now in revolutions... Smith has turned every single human being into smiths... how is this evident? The infinate line of smiths on the street... in every single building, each floor is completely filled with smiths... this is all evident by watching the trailer alone... so.. if smith's code overrides the human code... they may still be alive.. but they have no control over themseves anymore... they aren't humans anymore.. there programs... smith infects everyone.. thus the whole theory of neo saving every human plugged into the matrix is false... every human is a smith in the 3rd film

edit:

and if you really think about it... would the majority of the humans want to wake up from a nice world into the world, what the "real world" really is?
