the best places for phones usually ends up being

djmart.com
meier audio (just type that into the yahoo search)
headphone.com
audiocubes.com
toddthevinyljunkie.com

the best price for a phone varies form site to site

the best places for amps are (that i've found)
headphone.com
meier audio (their own very good brand)
headphone.com
headsave.com
jmtaudio.com
tangentsoft.net

and i think that's it

oh.. and look into the k271 stuido and the ultrasone models. ultrasone can be bought on meier audio.

and how do the hdj1000 sound (they're the pioneer, right?) do they have that inflated midd bass like the v700 (by the way.. v700.. everything i read.. eeeeewwwww!!! go to headwize.com and head-fi.org!)

my experiences:

hdj 1000 - these are what i use. reasonably comfortable, but tight fitting. good noise reduction. good sound quality but bass is too heavy. cord often gets tangled. also had problems with the cord being broken and thus stereo being broke (had to order a new one).

technics 1200s - from when ive used these, very comfortable, nice flat sound response, bass isnt over powering. sound quality isnt as good as pioneers.

hd25's - best sound quality and flattest clearest sound response...perfect really. kind of weird to use as they dont feel like typical headphones, very lightweight and flimsy feeling, although they are actually very strong.

if i was going to buy new ones, id probably go for hd25's or technics...

What about AKG???

Are there any DJ model's???

Gluegun
There are lots of models that are great...

FYI, I'm biased towards "accurate-sounding", studio-ish headphones... gotta have my accuracy and sound quality!

Some headphones I'd consider buying are...

Sony MDR-V6
Sony MDR-7506
AKG K271 Studio
Sennheiser HD280 Pro
Sennheiser HD25

Cuz I can't find a store in NY that got HD 25

I think I'm gonna go on Technics RP DJ 1210
