Sending to labels

I recently finished an original song and would like to start sending it to labels. I suppose that these questions were asked before, so don't be upset.
Where can I find the adresses of the labels and specifically trance labels?
Also, is it OK to realese the song, let's say in this forum or should I wait and send to labels first?
Is copyright needed before sending a song?
Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it. I'll try posting a sample after mastering is done. |

The very first thing you need to do before submitting anything anywhere is to ask yourself "Is my music really ready to be sent to labels?".
What kind of feedback have you had? Has anyone offered to play your tracks live? How did they sound live?
Remember, your friends and family will ALWAYS tell them they like your tracks even if they hate them. Or the other way around. |

My tracks have been played by two radio stations and will be played live soon in a club.
Then, I will get the idea if people really like it... |

| I also think it's important to send your tracks to labels in your neighbourhood first, so first start sending them to Canadian labels. When you get positive feedback it will be much easier to visit them and keep contact than when you have contacts with a foreign label. |

not a problem. why not share the resources with fellow TA's. ;)
there are very few canadian trance labels that I know of.. its really disappointing actually.
Digital Music Translation was a pretty decent Toronto label, but I don't know what happend to them. havnt seen any of their releases lately, so they might not be around anymore. Release Records and Stickman are good for progressive house, tribal, and occasionally progressive trance. And Ascend Recordings is pretty big for techno. But Canada is really lacking in trance labels. |

Sorry, didn't know that. But I was just thinking it would be better to send the demo in your own country, that has worked best for me up till now. But if there aren't any decent labels in Canada, then you should definitely go overseas! good luck!
