I said this before, but who cares...I practise Leung Ting Wing Chun Kung Fu...it's a pretty hard style and is one of the best ways to learn to defend yourself imho. It was invented by a shaolin monk called Ng Mui who tried to find a better style than the original shaolin kung fu style.

cool, I practiced the ancient styl, nothing special or so, with Walter Toch, maybe you know him, he was the first non-chinese guy to be educated there, but i think walter forgot the most essentail things, and now he concentrates on the money part, so that lol

I think I've heard about him before...he doesn't really use the original techniques and training as far as I know, he uses the name shaolin just for gettin money...i.e. Juan Charlos Aguilar is a real european shaolin.

If you wanna do full contact martial arts you should check out Muay Thai, Muay Boran and Jeet Kune Do...

wow, i just had a long discussion with a friend of mine about this. I meant the comment about a martial arts being too soft. I hope you are not taking you time and effort to learn a self-defense for aggression. "Too Soft?". Learn an Art for self-learning and inner peace, not to throw punches and kicks. People think that once you learn Karate(which is ), they can go and beat everyone up as a self-defense. I hope this doesn't agner you, I have a deep heart about martial arts.

I HATE it when people learn a form to use when ever they feel the need. I've studied Aikido for 8 years and I have a completely different outlook from it. In Aikido, you learn never use your art unless you are truely in danger. Not when some one steps to your face. (I've taken a punch before I used my skill). I guess everyone has to see for themselves what a Martial Art is suppose to do. I urge you to look into why you want to learn an art. Good Luck

i agree on that, i don't want to learn how to fight so i can kick everybody, but let me tell you something
the lessongs you have are with a variation yes??? well the ones i had weren't, it looked like the guy forgot everything and every lesson he gave the same routines and stuff, it was always the same stuff, so i got boring, and if u learn something, don't you think you should be able to practice that too there, in the place where you are being thought?? so that is why i think it was too soft

true...I don't think you should learn TaeKwonDo or Karate (Uechi-Ryu Karate ain't bad btw, the rest is :D) in case you wanna defend yourself if you need to...karate is a sport, no art and you won't learn to defend yourself. you'll learn how kick and punch, but you won't learn anything about martial arts...I hate it when people think hey I just learnt how to perform a roundhouse/uramawashi and tell everybody how easily they could beat you up and stuff cause they've seen chuck norris doing that...
