People who are a drain on the scene

Artists need support and by going to the gigs of deejays, buying their 12's and cd's help them. What bothers me is the freeloaders (I bet we have some on tranceaddict) who just download l33t mp3's and don't support the artists or deejays, I think that is just basically wrong.

what do you people think?
jdat
yes I find it ridiculous how so of "us" consider ourselves to be supporters of the scene and actually get respect from the rest when they destroy the scene from the inside.

it's come to my attention that if you speak up then people think YOU'RE the issue well fuXX that

I just have to get this off my chest cause the hypocrisie ( typo ) has gone far too long

[14:15] Well, I dont have the Cds but the tracks on it are really good
[14:15] when's the last time you bought a cd tigger ?
[14:16] hmm, I dont know, before mp3s were invented?
[14:16] hehe
[14:16] lol
[14:16] I say, about 2000?
[14:16] lo u serous claw
[14:16] nothing to be proud of tyger paw :/
[14:16] you music thief
[14:16] but I still bought Cds then since I couldnt find the tracks I was looking for so I was randomly buying trance CDs
[14:16] claw support the muzik and buy it
[14:17] s0t don't try and be funny
[14:17] we are talking about music theft here
[14:17] which tyggerpaw openly supports :/
[14:17] I find that disturbing
[14:17] lol

some people might think I'm kidding around but seriously people like that deserve to be shot to be so blatent in their theft of the scene.

I for one SUPPORT the artists by : BUYING their albums and ATTENDING their gigs ... our subject here above does neither but still holds his ground saying he is true to the scene and I am not ...

that .... spending 500 bucks on plane tickets to see one dj etc doesn't help me make me real in anyway I suppose at least according to what he says ..... he still considers me to be fake as well as people who are genuine like TTA

this world is spinning the wrong way around it seems like it :whip:

I need to find fulltime work to finance my cd buying habit and then I can go to see more gigs. It gets expensive after a while imo, and then you have lots of cd's. I'm still looking for used nubreed 1 and 3's which I hope to find but cannot find on ebay :(. Oh well, nice log there about tigerpaw jdat, now we realize the true him. He does not support the trance scene :(
jdat
what a shame

[14:33] tygger paw ? why because you don't want the real MIKE to know that you don't support the trance scene???
[14:33] I suport every scene, just not the cheesey one
[14:33] hehe

I will admit that I have a lot of mp3s of artists. But its just because I am new to the scene and i am trying to see who I like and get a feel for everything. However, I do buy cds though. I just went and bought 4Strings and Armin like 3 days ago. So i buy my share of cds, I just use one 1 or 2 mp3s to see who I like.
paranoik0
<- leecher who hardly ever buys cd :/

yeah i know it's wrong. seeing record labels shut down and everything isn't really funny. but we don't really see much trance cd's around here in our record shops. and buying online is a pain in the ass, especially for the damn expensive import prices (like at only-djs, 15 ing euros of import for one vinyl :haha: ).

attending gigs, well, if some dj that didn't play tribal house came to our island, i'd do anything to be present there.

i plan to buy some vinyls online in the near future though. but it won't be much, like a pack of 5 vinyls each semester or something

it just ain't possible to buy everything we get on mp3, especially with import prices.

Well, you Do have a point there. Allow me to state my reasons. Firstly, being in India, It's impossible for me to attend Dj Gigs in Europe and elsewhere in the world. PVD has visited once, and maybe some other DJ's might consider.

Secondly, buying CD's turns out to be outrageously expensive, considering the Euro/Dollar to Rupee exchange rates. There's no specific 'Electronica' section in any of the really BIG CD stores we have here, atleast none that I know of has one. They do stock random ELECTRONICA/TRANCE CD's...but they're most likely some Psy CD's and other stuff like Oakenfold's Bunkka.

Thirdly I don't see myself buying Artist CD's or any compilation any DJ puts out...for I simply cannot bet on investing money on CD's of which I want just a couple tracks from. There might be exceptions to this rule, but rather rare at that...

So, for new music....I rely on a few places from where I acquire the MP3. I don't mind admitting being a 'freeloader' if that's what you're calling people like me
jdat
ok ok you guys are pulling the worst exceptions in the world.

I understand that living in remote locations like that, with different economic situations etc surely doesn't help getting the goods.

But I was not making reference to people in your cases, which is somewhat of an exception.

The subject we were speaking of bashes the rest say he's above us and more true to the scene etc .... :whip: FFS he's been to a club twice, lives CLOSE to some of the worlds best clubs

Shame shame shame :wtf:
Psychonoise
here in brazil is dificult to support my artist cause the cdīs and vinyls are too expensive...some times itīs hard to find...and i donīt have credit card, and the tax is about 60% of value of the product...but when i can i buy cds etc...
justin
well not me... i know the first thing that I did when I got turntables was go out and buy every record that I could find that i got on MP3. But that got kinda boring and I couldnt find anymore anyhow. besides ... now I dont even have internet access but i wish i did so I could listen to a larger variety of tracks to know what i am gonna look for before I go to the record store. but we all have our own...

I'll admit I do have mp3s most of which are live sets (no full albums)
I won't consider myself a freeloader though because of the fact that I do buy a lot of cds. I've spent $500-$600 on cds this past 6 weeks! I really need a full time job but it's impossible to juggle full time work and school. Our wants are insatible so regardless of how many cds I buy, I'll still d/l mp3s just because it's impossible to get every cd I want.

I'm in the position that most graduates have to go thru, called finding the first job. Got some interviews this week, if nothing pans out then I'm getting myself a part time job. I need a fulltime job to finance my life and music. CD'S are not cheap these days
