this is news to me...

I know he produced A track with PVD (A WHILE AGO, were talking back in the mid 90's) but ummmmmmm what has he made RECENTLY that sounded like trance? Im just curious? I'd like to hear what a trancey Carl Cox production sounds like. Please point me in the direction of this said Carl Cox trancey production(s).

As far as him rarely spinning trance. Ummmmmm i'd go as far to say that he NEVER SPINS TRANCE!!! EVER! Like never ever ever! EVER! But maybe we have different definitions of trance. Or maybe hes been playing some new Tiesto productions that I was unaware of.

:conf:

But somehow I doubt that.

Ferry has a new carl Cox track on his new Mixed Live Cd...it's definitely harder trance...but i would say it's trance over house or techno. Cox has done some amazing "trancey" chillout songs too.....Song For rachel is a good example. There are others as well, including the track you are talking about. But maybe the stuff I'm thinking about is outdated.

Hmmmmmm I dont think I would call that a Carl Cox production because well I dunno the tune on Ferry's CD was mixed by Trevor Rockcliffe lol. But even that doesnt really sound like trance to me. That bassline (which is pretty ing sick hehehe) is pure techno IMO.

 :p ya, i cried myself to sleep that Tiesto won, and Sasha didn't ;)

seriously, ya,i got caught up in the excitment a little, and I was really looking forward to seeing if, my some stupid chance, the DJ's that I thought deserved it, got in the top 10, or even top 20 :) Oh well...as long as Tiesto doesn't win next year I won't shoot myself, lol.

Seriously tho, for next year, I'd like to see Paul van Dyk finally take it. Armin...meh, I lost interest in him but I guess he deserves it too. And I *REALLY* hope that James Holden will get in the top 30. I was absolutely stunned when I saw him at 76. But when Balance005 hits North America and Europe and he does a release tour, that should really help him. Also, watch out for Zabiela.

Youve got it mixed up here.....this is Ferry Corsten spinning a techno song in his set, not Carl Cox producing a trance song. Which kinda proves the point a lot of people are trying to prove. The quality of trance has gone down over the last few years forcing dj's like Tiesto, Pvd, Corsten, etc. to incorporate techno (as well as other genres) into their sets. Trance aint dead....PVD proved this to me in the Kool Haus, but overall its definately no where close to what it once was.

PvD has always been incorporating differing styles of electronic music into his sets...at least overall. He constantly puts variety in there. Ferry has been doing it recently...Marco V as well (although I think he's been at it longer than Ferry in that respect).

I agree with Smitty - Carl Cox's productions are not all techno he does have some trancy stuff there as well as many Trance DJs have remixed some of his song, obviously the first one comming to mind is Phuture 2000. In that album all together there's many trancey stuff not your typical techno. And to all those ppl that crying that trance DJs have nothing to spin is bull...Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, and others are DJs and they play music...as far as i'm concerned they are not ONLY TRANCE DJs exclusively. And let me remind you that Coxy played "...hey, whats wrong with you...you looking kinda down to me..." could there be any more commercial house? Or maybe Coxy is also out of good music? :P:stongue:

Great point !! This poll maybe a popularity contest, but I'm sure that it's mainly due to this poll that we get to see so many top DJs in Toronto !

So you know what - I think it is a very useful poll. It's impossible to correctly rank the DJs, and this poll is the closest thing we've got.

:D That's very true...and besides, even if it is a popularity poll...how do you think those guys became popular in the first place??? Obviously they are popular because of their music...what else would they be popular for

Trance is dead,
none of these dj's really spin trance anymore.

It's actually evolved into different typa music,
I guess we still like to call it trance, cuz thats where it came from!
