Don't you just love being in a university with a presidential library.
i just got tickets to see:
Qian Qichen (former vice president of china), Henry Kissinger, and Colin Powell all lecture tomorrow at our auditorium (free tickets to students). The lecture topic will be about US-China relations, should be interesting with that kind of high-caliber panel.
It's great that my uni is able to get these kinds of lectures here. Two weekends ago i saw a lecture by Tommy Franks and a NYTimes foriegn correspondant, moderated by Bush Sr. Also i've gotten to see here, Condeliza Rice, Madeline Albright, and Michael Gorbichov on seperate occasions.
To me seeing these people is like a cheese-head seeing brad pitt or something...
sorry to brag, i guess i should turn this into a topic for you all. Has there been an influencel people that you've seen talk in person that have had an impact on your views or opinions? |

| That's really cool. When I was in school we had a similar program. We had Margaret Thatcher, Buzz Aldrin, and Dave Thomas to name a few. Don't ask my why Dave Thomas was on the list. Must be the cheeseburgers. |

Ya that NYTimes foreign correspdonent was the editor dummy :)
I was there too... you also forgot to mention Bush 41st was there.
In my school, I've had a chance to see Bill Clinton, Laura something or other (the retired 2nd hand-"man" for Pres Bush... name and title are fleeing my recollection), Michael Moore (*shivvers*) Numerous top CEO's including Kevin Rollins (COO of Dell), SBC CEO (yet to come), and many others.. the good thing is many of these high profile guys I've met in low level lecture meetings, so I could speak to them shake there hand and so on (michael moore, and bill clinton were big events though :( ).. Tommorow they have Alan Keyes come in, one of the most elequoent people I know. |

Well that does sound cool. My Uni has the benefits of having some killer profs tho. My frosh year my flim prof was friends with Scorcese and the #1 guy for Ingmar Bergman stuff.
in the more political realm im taking a class now with Kenneth Lieberthal, Clintons Security Adviser to Asia. the class has to do with Chinas Development after Communism. its not easy, but a killer class| |

We're getting Chuck D :D
Aside from that we've had a few high profile "leftist" speakers come here. The SU, IMO leans too much to that side and I would rather they spend my dues on getting speakers from all backgrounds but it's not like I get involved or anything. |
