PPPoE is Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet its wot u use to connect computers on a private LAN to the internet. I don't really know much about wireless networking, but if its anything like wired then its a config problem with your router. Check all your IP, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server are all setup right. If its anything it will be a problem with one of those.

Probably best to wait for a second opinion from the IT Helpdesk/Jon Simmonds :p

Assuming the router is configured to use 192.168.0.1 you could try pinging from ur comp to see if it can reach the router. Doesnt the router have little led lights for status links etc? Presuming therefore that ur inet connection is working then it means fiddling with the settings ..

I had loads of probs with my router .. but thats cos I got a vpn firewall router which likes to block everything coming in .. so you have to open up ports for everything you want to use

it reaches the router im sure coz i ran the router setup and it configured the router, it was after that it coudlnt find my net connection and now spits its dummy out over pppoe. not only that i can chage the router settings from my ie browser.

what is the problem is what happens after that, even when i take the router out of the equation it still does the same thing? :(

Ste, are you trying to connect the cable modem to your hub and then assume that the other comps can use the same connection?
Cru5ad3r
Its highly possible tho that virgin uses pppoe for its dsl service .. in which case you would need a router that has built-in pppoe support or provided software .. in which case the problem could lie in 1 of these 2 .. id assume tho that if using the latter then the problem lies at virgins end ..

In the case of the former .. in the router settings are u using "obtain an ip automatically" or "pppoe" ?
