LOL @ clueless dips

Scoring tries is only part of the game, especially in union. What england did was tactically brilliant. Used their strengths to their advatange. And if i remember correctly, ball handling wasnt the easiest on sunday nite because of the wet, hence the importance of a good kicking game. Its the same dips when the football world cup comes on they bitch and moan about teams being too defence minded. pffft.

all i hope for is that the most entertaining and enterprising team will win on the day, as much as it pains me to say it - australia look like the only team who are capable of such a brand of football.

i hope england proves me wrong, i really do.

woohoo go all blacks!!! go for bronze like all the other sports you've managed to excel at. :gsmile:

Stupid thing is England in football have lacked a decent left sided player for years and u got wilko with his in rugby, maybe he needs a change :p

and the great thing is he can kick with both left and right, so when pretty boy beckham gets injured, he can switch to the right.

couldn't agree more ! sport is suppose to be entertaining, after all its a GAME, and the entire point of a game is to entertain. Anyone can build Great Walls of China and call it a great tactical ploy on there behalf, but where's the spirit ? where's the entertainment in that ?

lol at paulie dissing rugby then making educated opinion

ive seen england play enterprising rugby and it was this year too (six nations). they should play like that all the time, give their fliers some ball to work with

sid bro those are some big calls....the world cup is too important in the scheme of things to be enterprising like fiji and samoa were, even wales surprised us all. league is a simple game for simple minds (for players i mean). what you should all watch is sevens rugby, that is a in spectacle. england hasnt got a hope in hell winning in that game
my prediction....
i will knock up the queen and win the world cup:happy2:

I'm looking at it from a spectators point of view, and me being a spectator !lol I can't hack the brand of union many of the teams are adopting. As I said, it takes away from the spectacle, which is the Rugby World Cup.

ahaha yeh oli_a i must admit i have watched the rugby (btw i was gonna delete that post). I like my sports and you would tend to agree all these people that come out with rule changes are the ones that watch the game every 4 years like in soccer. I shouldn't be dissing other sports, thats just narrow minded :)

the rwc was the irb's way of sending more trash to australia (the irb being english based hence rule changes favouring them..hmmmmmm)

Wilkinson 24 - France 7

Wrong wrong wrong - sure Wilkinson scored all the points, but he relies totally on the forward pack! England's forwards push forward with the rolling mauls and straight runs to get good central field position, then set up an umbrella around Wilkinson to give him time to set up his drop goals.

I think Australia will do much better against England than the French did, especially if we play like we did against the Kiwis. England's defence is brittle around the edges, Robinson is a good player but when he's facing off against Tuqiri, Sailor, Mortlock and Rogers. Once we start running the ball wide and not dropping it, I think we'll make some excellent gains. Consider that our outside backs managed to shut down Howlett, Rokocoko and Muliaina last weekend, England's outside backs are definitely less fearsome.

George Smith and Phil Waugh (players of the tournament for mine) will also put much more pressure on the English breakdown than the French did, spoiling the amount of clean ball that Wilkinson gets, and pinching the ball for quick turnovers.

The weather will also play an important part - the weather here in Sydney has been hot and humid the last two days, hopefully this continues. The heat will slow England down tremendously in the last 20 minutes, but rain will definitely play against us (as our handling errors are well known - rain will only increase these and make try-scoring difficult, while England don't rely on as much passing as we do).

Should be a very close game, but I think Australia will come out on top. Fingers crossed.
