i know we had this thread a looong time ago but i cant be arsed to dig it up... but anyway ill get to the point...
all this time and still nothing?? anyone heard anything yet? or has he been placed in cryogenic suspension for the future generations of trancers to enjoy?

Well, last time I checked his site , was when he just released the PURE EUPHORIA last year, since then I remember he heavent done about nothing .. Matt Darey is part of the TRANCE goddesses , since he produdced, remixed songs to become one of the best in 1999 !! he did way too much for the year of trance.... I hope he can once again begin doing those such awesome uplifting epic remixes and productions !
By the way, I saw a tune called
Blue - blue skies ( Matt Darey mix )
I dont know if this is new or not though. |

I really looked into this matter last year, as at one point he was my favorite producer....
What i found is that when he originally signed up with whatever record company he did, he supposedly got ed on the deal, and realized this afterward. Supposedly he was trying to get away from them, and produced a couple of crap tracks under Alias group names (in other words, he made other trance tracks under OTHER group names, many of which we know and liked) just to fulfill his record deal.
Then, (again, supposedly), the record company tried to get more out of him, but he refused to make more tracks (can you imagine being "forced" to make a song? You just can't DO it when you are told, it has to "come" to you...). When he refused to make more tracks, the label *supposedly* threatened to take him to court, so he dodged some bullets and went into hiding for a couple of months (keep in mind this was 1-2 years ago).
I think all that has blown over and past, but i think he has such a bad taste in his mouth that he is really hesitant to get back on the horse after falling off (if you catch my drift). I am not positive if these are true, but i read this in publications from last year and the end of '99, and really looked a lot into it. I think he "touches" on this whole subject on his website.
Its a real shame though.... his "Wizards of the Sonic" remix and "Beautiful" are 2 of my all-time favorite records. I honestly hope he does make more music, because he was one of the best producers ever....

| I thought Matt Darey didn't spin live? That's what he always used to say, that he is a producer, not a DJ... he mixed those 2 CD's for Euphoria on a computer, digitally. |
