Stage or studio monitors? I'm guessing stage, since it sounds like you're buying them for playing out.
DJQues
The monitors are just for practice, so I need studio ones in like the $200.00-300.00 range.
Vlad
Event TR5 Tuned Reference Biamplified Studio Monitors - $299.95 USD

Event TR5

Fostex PM1 Powered Monitors - $349.95 USD

Fostex PM1

MAudio BX5 Powered Monitors - $299.95 USD

M-Audio BX5

All of these monitors are amplified - so you wont need an amplifier for them.

i would say if you're going to practice spinning on a set of studio monitors get a set with 8" drivers or get a studio monitor sub to go with them. you'll really want the extra bass and you'll find that while the 5.25" and 6" drivers will work alright for spinning you'll be much much much happier if you spend the extra money and get 8" drivers or a sub. cheers.

I totally agree with VIO on this. I had heard the bass coming out of monitor with a 5" and 6" driver and the sound wasn't what i was looking for. When i heard the speaker with the 8" driver, i discovered that i would enjoy hearing music coming out of those speakers in my bedroom. The sound was alot fuller. I bought a pair of the EVENT PS8's (now replaced by Event TR8's) , and I luv them.
Vlad
I myself am looking forward to buying the Event TR8 Monitors, and if I can pool together an extra $100, Ill get the Event TR8XL Monitors. *drool*
DJQues
Thanks for the advise, I'll check some out with the 8'' drivers. How much did they cost?
SUNWmsf
I got my Event PS8 for 425$ US for the pair, which was a deal at the time(retail was like 700$ each)... but I think the Event TR8 have been on sale for 425$ recently... at the Guitar Center... The TR8 seemed to cost a lot less that the PS8's... I dont know why when they seem to be almost the same...
I was told the TR8's have less headroom output than the PS8's.

So PS8's sound is supposed be able to travel further that TR8's.

What are the necessary components (besides 2 tt's and a mixer, and some reasonable amount of skill!!)to have a mobil setup? I've been spinning for about 2 years just away in the house getting comfortable with my equipment, beatmatching,so on and so on. Now I have alot of request from friends and friends of friends who want me to play at their partys but none have gear so I need to build a setup from the ground up and take this show on the road. I appreciate all the feedback. PEACE :happy2:

if you're wanting to be mobile, i suggest dropping the cash on a set of jbl eons or any other powered stage monitor like that

2 eons are usually more than enough for a house party
