ok so maybe this is the wrong part to post this, not sure. but some feedback would be good.

So iv been a dj for a while, bu iv been using the computer since for ever, and im thinking of going on tables. now the question to yall is, is it hard to find good vinyls,? and is it hard to match beats since in the comp is easy as pie cause of the BMP mathing button.

I don't get it. Are you a CD DJ? Or when you say you're a DJ do you just mean you've been 'only' doing it on the computer?
Vigilante
What program do you use? Traktor?

The beat-match function on the computer is hell easy, i agree. However, i think that on turntables it would be VERY difficult and take a lot of practice to get good on it. I mean, you probably know just from using the computer how bad it sounds if you are only a little bit (3/4%) off in the beat-matching. Imagine how bad that would be in real-life turntabilism!!!

I am actually in a similar situation to you. i am thinking of buying some decks to muck around with.....

ya thats what i was thinking......... i guess i want to know if its something really hard or somethign i can get good at with turntables with out spending inmense amount of hours practecing.

Unfourtunately the only real way to get good at mixing is to practice practice practice. Some people find it easier than others (It didn't take me long but I have a strong musical background).

Realistically, you need to ask yourself whether you think you are committed enough to get into it. It takes time and a fair amount of money too. It's ultimately up to you, we can't tell you how things will turn out :(

Regarding records, in general it's not hard to find what you want. If you are after specific stuff you may have to pay extra or search harder, depending on what you are looking for.

Sorry for the spelling, had a few too many drniks.

Well i started off Atomix which matches the beat for you, this was ages ago, i didn't use this song to actually make mix cds, i only used this program just to understand the layout of trance and stuff...when i did get my TTs, i sucked for the first couple of days, but close to one week in getting my TTs i could beatmatch, so i guess you can do it...but remeber you will always suck on your first go on TTs, when the whole beatmatching concept works for you, it will hit you hard at how easy it works.

Now i'm not saying Djing is easy, BUT it can be.

I started out with PCDJ, just to learn how to beatmatch. It didn't have bpm counting that time, atleast I didn't use it. I learned it in two weeks and when I then bought a double cd player... it took me a couple of hours to get used.

But I think it will be kinda difficult to beatmatch on vinyl (which is harder that cd) when you've only used a bpm counter on your computer. Generally I find it much harder with vinyl that cds, but it's only a matter of getting used to it I think. But as mentioned above, just practise and practise, and screw the bpm counter :D

boy you must be a regular tiesto if you learned to mix in a week

Well, beatmatching and making transitions is only half of what djing is. If you can't pick tunes that go together and build up the set in a proper way, then you're useless :D
Ste
if you have never been on decks before and wanan start then matching the BPM = ing solid, its the main bit really, cueing is all in the mind and matching the beats is not to hard coz u jsut gotta nudge the record a bit.
