Why do people here keep discussing the same themes over and over again.. I mean, how many hundreds of TAs already said that Reflections (or any other artist album, compilation, or track) sucked or roked in the last 4 months? Geez... You all sound like kids that want to be cool by stating your opinion about this or that track/album, but at the end, nobody really cares about what you or others happen to think, and these threads degenerate in an awful way. Sometimes people need to grow up, and avoid such "discussion", but alas this is not possible. Apparently, such lame threads and lame replies are here to inscrease your post count.. Sad.. ;(
Now if you want to discuss Reflections or the fact that PVD sucks or rocks, use the fooking search button and join-in the previous PVD or Reflexion themes, like the one in the reviews section. God I'm sick of reduant threads.. ;( |

| I don't think he's declined. He's been in the top 10 DJ list for a long long long time. He never really moves from there. I understand its a popularity contest but who cares, he's loved my many. His style has evolved just a little bit. He still has some of his roots embedded in his live sets but he definitely has gotten a lot techier over the years. He has shifted his style slightly year by year in order to press ahead with the scene while holding onto his roots. I think that's a good thing. If anything, the scene is dying slowly and not him. |

Maybe he just got the album yesterday and was so confused he didn't think of the search button :haha: |

His productions are lower in quality than his heyday, but Paul has still got a long way to go, and is most definitely not past his "Used By" date. Nothing But You and Connected alone redeem him for now in my opinion. If he's gone this far with a relatively limited set of sounds and effects, what's going to happen when he shuffles some things around? Ultimately the longevity of an artist is in his talent, not in the samples he uses.
Production aside, he's still firmly my #1 DJ; no other moves me, emotionally and physically, like he does. |

i still my paulie :D .
like everyone said in here, reflections is a side of paul that we don't know.....yeah, we are used to the great basslines and hard beats that paul gives us, but an artist always have to expand diff horizons and he did so with reflections. pvd fans just have to honor this and stop BITCHING LOL |

I dont know about you guys, but dont you think pvd's been playing the same tracks over and over again? Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge pvd fan (I flew from LA to NYC for his roxy set)...it's just that I can predict at least half his playlist before I step into the club. He kinda pissed me off when he played NBY for his encore at roxy too...I mean c'mon, yeah that's his tune, but he's raped that song for what seems like 2 years now.
I dont know, maybe a lot of the promos out there right now suck ass or something, but he hasnt been playing a lot of new stuff...you know to the point where you look at your friends and say "What is this song?"
What do you guys think? |

| maybe i dont have enough music in my collection, saw him a coupla weeks ago and couldnt recognize half his set. Reflections is really nice to drive around the car with, maybe not to turn up loud as hell and disturb others, but a very nice cd nonetheless. He's changed, yet still has that same uniqueness to him i think. I try to take things as they are as opposed to what I expect them to be. I dunno about this 'used by date' or anything like that. Paul's performances are some of the best experiences I can find when i go out. I dont really compare things tho, I dont really get the point of these discussions or why the same one's pop up over and over, but I think I'll post this and see how it flies |

| Paul van Dyk is not losing his touch. YES, he is moving on (:( ) into a new direction, yet I still like his new stuff, and I am looking forward converting those MP3s I have from Reflections album into the actual CD that I'm going to get from the store for Christmas :toothless . Of course, it's not his greatest album, certainly a little disappointment from my point of view, but overall, he's an excellent producer and a great DJ. So quit whining, and start complaining! :toocool: |

This is the most ridiculous thread I have ever read, or one of them, LOL.
Why do you guys keep saying a DJ is past his prime???? What exactly is his PRIME??? Music is a form of expression and as a DJ encounters things in his life and matures in life his music will change and be influenced in MANY different way. Do you really know anyone that spins the same style music when he first started out!!!??? If he did that woudln't make much sense would it. They must change with the times and incorporate different techniques and sounds, that is how they stay fresh and unique and showcase their talents. Just like Sasha did on Air Dawn Dagger. That is NOT a typical Sasha album or even something you would hear live when you see him but it was an album that depicted a time in his life that he wanted to share with us and capture through music. You guys just don't get it and sound like a BIG ass when you say a DJ is not in his prime!!!
Do you think these guys are football players or professional athletes. What they are doing is NOT physical it is a mental and creative expression. As long as their brains and minds are thinking about music and they are producing it, they ARE IN THEIR PRIME. Now shut up and get a clue! |
