question 1 (HARD hardly anyone gets the correct answer!)
The 10" pizza sells for $ 3.99 at my favorite pizza store. The store claims they have a great deal on the large 14" pizza, which is specially priced at $ 6.26. What is the per cent discount the store is offering?

question 2 (EASY)
less than $1
$.01 (penny) $.05 (nickel) $.10 (dime) and $.25 (quarter)
--------
I have 2 coins in my hand that equal 30 cents ($.30) but one of them is not a quarter ($.25) what are the 2 coins?

question 3 (EASY)
You are in a house where all 4 walls face south. one day a bear walks by. what color is the bear?

question 4 (too EASY)
An electric train is heading south. Which way does the smoke go? (wind direction = north)

question 5 (EASY)
if it take 6 people to dig a hole...in 6 hours
how long does it take to dig half a hole?

question 6 (EASY but abit silly)
a little kid goes to the market wanting to buy a pair of toothbrush.
he does the action of brushing his teeth.. the owner understood wat he wanted and gave him a toothbrush.
now a blind man goes to the market wanted to buy a pair of sunglasses..
how does he do that?

[B]question 7 (simple!)
Assuming that you are paying, is it cheaper to take one friend to the movies twice, or two friends to the movie at the same time, or is it the same?

----------------------
if you got any other brain teaser questions feel free
to post them :P
thanks

1. it's not discounted, it's roughly 11% more expensive
2.
3. white, it's a polar bear
4. an electric train doesn't generate smoke
5. how big is half a hole? ;)
6. i assume he'd say, "I'd like to buy a pair of sunglasses please"
7. take them at the same time, otherwise you need to pay for yourself twice
lethal
Number 2 is a 25c piece and a 5c piece.... he did say ONE of them wasnt a quarter.... ;)

wrong

10" pizza = $3.99
14" pizza = $6.26

10" = 78.5398 square inches of pizza
14" = 153.9380 square inches of pizza

10" = 19.6842 square inches per dollar
14" = 24.5907 square inches per dollar

therefore the fourteen inch pizza costs 0.80047% (per unit area) of the cost (per unit area) of the ten inch pizza. Thus the discount is approximately 20%.
webmeister
True, but if 10 inches = $3.99, then 1 inch = $0.399.
So, 14 inches = $5.586.

Then, $5.586 / $6.26 (sale price for 14") = 89.23%

So you're paying $6.26 for $5.586 worth of pizza, which is a cost increase of about 11%.

Though you're probably correct because my calcs don't take into account the fact that the pizza is probably circular :)

webby the pizza isn't squashed out in a line hehe

I assume 10" is the diameter of the smaller pizza.
Therefore the are of the 10" pizza is:
A=pir^2
A=pi5^2
A=78.5sq"

The area of the 14" pizza is:
A=pi7^2
A=153.9sq"

Now, the 10" and 14" pizzas cost $3.99 and $6.26 respectively.

A 14" pizza at the same per-unit price as the 10" pizza would cost:
$3.99*(153.9/78.5)=$7.82

So the discount on the 14" pizza is:
($7.82-$6.26)/($7.82)*100=20%
:p

yeah webbie lol pizzas generally are circular, hence the calculations above that involve pi.
webmeister
Show me where in the question it says "In your answer, assume that the pizzas are both circular (12 points)."

:) :p
gilmista
mmmmmmmmmm .. pizza

Antistatic
webby... if the pizza was a line it would have no thickness and therefore no area so you would be paying money for a 10" (or 14") line which doesn't exist in the real world. you would be donating money to the pizza maker :toothless

hahaha bloody webbie and his one dimensional pizzas, not very inovative mate!
