Xbox GameCube & PS2 What d'you think?

Well, i'm just wondering, what do you guy's think of all them? Are you a Sony Worshiper, a Microsoft hater, GBA owner wanting compatibility, a power freak or whatever, post it here.
I'm more swayed towards the Xbox (POWER POWER POWER & more violent games!)
But i think they'll all co-exist in the end. Due to their slightly different target audiences, prices, and specs.
Despite liking Xbox i'll probably buy a Geforce3 and stick to PC Gaming. |

Well PS2 is out already, and I havent been overlly impressed with it. Its a bitch to develop for too. (I work for a video game developer...doing computer graphics and animation). There are a few decent games out there for it, but most games are like a little beefed up versions of PS1 games. Give it a bit then you'll see developers really take advantage of the hardware.
Gamecube...im not interested in at all. Just cause the N64 left a bad taste in my mouth. I didnt care for many of the games on the system. They are mostly kid orientated....ever seen blood or a really bloody game on N64? Nope. Thats the type of games Im into.
And finally X-Box. Well despite not really caring for Microsoft, I think this system is going to do really good. Its MUCH better than the PS2 as far as polys it could push out...and has a lot more bonuses (being able to layer 3 different textures...as apposed to Playstations 1). I REALLY dont think Bill Gates needs anymore money, but he's about to make lots more. :) |

| I heard a rumor that Microsoft Xbox is going to buy out square (makers of final fantasy) to develop games just for their system. |

Well I have a PS2 and a GBA. PS2 already has such a hold on the market that I don't think XBox will even be a factor, Gamecube will release and loyal Nintendo fans (I used to be one) will buy it and I think GCN (Gamecube) will last longer than XBox. PS2 is going to drop prices of their console by $50 a few weeks/months before Gamecube & XBox release.
PS2 already has a list of over 200 games that are all supposed to be released by the end of this year. As for XBox & Gamecube combined I don't think there are 200 games in production. XBox WILL NOT sell good in Japan and their show at E3 was nothing less than disappointing.
Just take a look at these games and I think u'll want a PS2: Half-Life, Grand Theft Auto 3, Final Fantasy 10, Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, Xenosaga (prequel to Xenogears, which is said to be one of the best RPGs ever created; made by Squaresoft :D ) And don't forget about PS2 hard drive that will come out soon w/ a modem (broadband). That's on top of all the must-haves that PS2 already has and they're only first gen games! (In the past most first-gen games sucked for systems, look @ PSX for example)
Well now that I've written a book I'll stop talking LoL. PS2 will win the console wars though :D |

Yes agree with Suzuka. PS2 has an advantage on the others with the computer one year+ earlier on the market.
And about the bad games on the PS2, which was said by D-Syde, the games at the beginning for the PSX were also bad. But at the end and still on they produce great games as Driver, GT, MGS.
The top games from the PSX are future hits for the PS@ too. Driver 3 is gonna be great. That has to be. GT3 is great I think. Tomorrow gonna buy it. Like all the GT games. And yes MGS 2, what do I say more. think this is the best game of this year and otherwise next year. That has to be. Pure quality.
About all. Gamecube sucks I think. Nintendo is more for the little kids then for the older ones. All those Mario and Dobnkey Kong games are childish.
X Box has great specs, but no experience at all with consoles. So i must see. Specs looks great. But look out for monopoly. They buy whole companys. That is sick, coz that is no honest concurrence.

Apparently Microsoft are actually selling them at a loss... weird huh? More Xboxes sold = more loss! But i think they recoupe that later through charging developers etc etc.
I'm all behind Xbox, Cube's starting line up appears to be the childish Mario etc stuff. In my opinion Mario and co. should have been left in the NES or SNES days, to make them true classics, rather than over use them. I really don't think you can claim any system is gonna have better games than the other, certainly not the PS2, sure it's got some impressive games, but it's already getting a bit of a reputation when developers just modify and reuse PS1 games. You also need to have a look at who Microsoft is. It has enough power to get the best developers in on the Xbox act (have you seen the list?! hundreds! and i wouldn't be surprised if they did get rights to Final Fantasy Games!) and MS is also a game developer it self, with some good PC titles to their name. Lets face it, as far as longevity and pure power is concerned Xbox is the way, it's powerful, has loads of developers working on great games (hopefully all gonna be as impressive as the flagship games) and has the backing of a powerful super giant. It can't fail. But then neither can Cube due to little kids, people who cant shell out for Xbox, and Loyal Nintendo fans. PS2 already has a load of people using it, but of the new buyers i think few will be purchasing PS2, by comparison to Cube and Xbox.
Anyway that's my talking done for now.
Btw Lex, Xbox is a console that is close to a PC (their alpha 'xboxes' were infact custom built PC's...) and they have LOTS of experience with PC's, so their lack of prior interest in the console market shouldn't go against them. |

GameCube is going to have some outstanding games like Mario, Zelda and Metroid, all of them made by nintendo....and thats the problem with it, most of the other games are 12 or below games, that u can finish in 2 days
Xbox has something that the other 2 dont have...almost unlimited budget
And PS2 has the best rpgs right now, and its a good thing u can play all ps games too
i will prolly go with ps2 |

| Computer is better than all of them. it has superior music and graphics than any of them. my choice would be either the xbox or ps2 depending on games. |

Right now it's a very exciting time to be a console gamer, with two
new next generation systems on the horizon, Gamecube and X-box, and
the PS2, Dreamcast, and GBA already out.
Although the PS2 has gotten off to a relatively slow start I think it
will continue to lead the market for quite a while although the
system will definitely not be as dominant as the PSone.
Those of you simply writing off the Gamecube because of they
supposedly only produce kiddie games have obviously not seen the
lineup they have for 2001, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Squadron 2,
Phantasy Star Online 2, SSX Tricky, Resident Evil 0. Check out
the previews of Eternal Darkness on www.ign.com, and yes
there is blood :D I too was dissapointed with the N64 but the
Gamecube is definitely the system I am most excited about. If there
is only one word I can say to sway the disenchanted it's Metriod!
The X-box's future is the most unclear. This is obviously Microsoft's
first console and although it does have some Japanese support namely
Tecmo and Sega so far, whether it will be accepted by the Japanese
public remains to be seen. |

| i had a ps2 and it sucked so i sold it on ebay when ppl paid exhorbitant amounts for it. best thing i ever done! free money for me! anyways yeah i got a elsa gladiac 920 alrdy so i play computer games right now. who wants to play some cs!? leave ur aim or soemthing and we can play! yeah i donno if i wanna get gamecube tho....i didnt play my n64 much...wasted hella money on games i didnt play for more than an hour. oh i heard like ff11 will be on computer so i can get that....since im huge final fantasy fan...well nto really anymore they kidna sucked when they came onto psx. hope ff10 come on computer! yeah and xbox seems cool. crazy specs. i just might get that but im not really into gaming consoles anymore dont want to make the same mistake i did with dreamcast....bought it and played it for like 30 hours ever since i got when first came out. |
