I was there.
I haven't posted a full review, but the rumor in the club was that there was a scuffle between security and a patron, which resulted in several security guys on top of one man and somehow the patron sustained injuries which lead to his death in hospital later on. However, news reports are calling it a "suspicious death" - that the man went into cardiac arrest at the club and died later in hospital.
The entire thing happened so suddenly, at least for those of us downstairs partying in the main room...it happened upstairs, and we didn't find out anything was wrong until Barbara turned the record off, begged for one last track, threw down "u spin me" (DOA rmx) and that was it. That was at 10:45am (Barbara was scheduled til at least 12 noon) and there were still several hundred people in the main room.
The night up until that point was absolutely amazing though... |

Given the fact that:
- he was 30
- Montreal has a reputation for obscene drug abuse (re: Speed)
- It was a cardiac arrest
- it was techno
I highly doubt it was a security guard beat down, but rather a heart attack caused by narcotics. (probably speed or blow) In which case, the scene took a hit.
Again, RIP. |

| Jon, those assumptions are garbage! "IT WAS TECHNO" - wtf is that supposed to mean? People are more likely to DIE from doing drugs while they're at a techno party? |

hahahah actually yeah I was trying to be funny, not the greatest idea considering someone died.
For the record, those are total 100% assumptions |

that would lead me to believe that drugs were probably not the only factor in this guys death.
maybe it wasnt a beatdown per se, but having multiple bouncers on top of you doing god knows what would most likely not be a good thing...

^ i dont think i've ever heard of a beatdown security death...not that i can remember anyway.
anyway, im gonna refrain from making any comments in this thread...too many assumptions at this point, and we all know about assumptions.
