| Steve Lawler is awesome live but what's with him (and every other DJ) playing at Avalon? Every time I think of going to this place, I hear something that makes me decide to change my mind (ty crowd, bouncers who don't let you in if you don't have a girl, vibe)... Isn't Lawler's down and dirty style more fitting for Arc, anyways? |

Don't believe the hype. Avalon is an amazing club with an excellent staff. there is a reason why all of these dj's are choosing to play at Avalon. 18+ as well.

wear sneakers then. avalon dress code is casual. jeans, sneakers, etc... as long as you look decent.

Bouncers won't let you in unless you have a girl with you, stuck up/preppy crowd that doesn't give a about house music, and the DJs only playing 2 hour sets... |

1. The crowd now a days anywhere in the city is (besides arc ;) )
2. Did Hawtin play a 2 hour set (no) Did Ferry (no)..... Oaky is Oaky and that herb is to old to go past two hours. Besides him most if not all of the dj's play longer then two hours.
3. You are all to picky about the clubs you go to!Nyc has nothing besides arc for 1 1/2 yrs. and now Avalon with it's amazing sound system, newly refurbished space, and fresh new look comes around and everyone is Whining about it..... A party is what you make out of it and everyone should check out Avalon, Crobar, and Spirit to judge it for yourself :)
Ps. Mr Game+Watch I wasn't ranting at you, just making a point. |

| Yeah, I'd prolly check Lawler out at Virgin if he spins, but I'm with Game + Watch on this one - heard alot bad stuff about Avalon. Plus, any place that even gives a about the way you dress, is bound to be full of pretentious s who've never even heard of the aforementioned DJs. |

the dress policy at avalon is casual. people wear sneakers, jeans, etc, and don't have a problem getting in at all. as far as the not letting guys in unless they are with a girl. it is true that girls get in a lot easier and a group of single girls is let in before a group of single guys. however, every night at avalon there is an even girl to guy ratio rather than the party being a sausage fest. next time you go alone or with a couple guys, just ask some girls that are on line if you can walk in together with them and you won't have a problem. i also would like to add that twilo, a club that i personally went to at least twice a month had the same exact door policy, as did / does a lot of other clubs in nyc.
