I prefer XBOX
generally the same price as PS2, but IMO muuuch better video and sound quality( especially if you have high definition and buy monster cables with it)
holy , your definition of gaming complete changes. Puts PS2 to sleep. I have both consoles, but i prefer my xbox.
BTW, Xbox is expanding its RPG selection in the 2004 year. Plus itll get more hot titles exclusive to Xbox thatll cremate PS2's graphics hehehe
NGC is pretty good for that price, its a fun system as well and Im thinking of getting it.
As far as PS2, i dont think itll be dropping in price much. Its like 229, and they are pretty dry of promos so far. If anything, they may include a game. However, the XBOX has 3 different types of bundles. One with halo and amped for 259, one with old republic and mechassault for 229 and the other is tetris world and star wars for 229 as well. The PS2 229 equivalent only comes with the core system and Turok(for limited time)

I bought a Gamecube from futureshop 2 months back!
Its excellent, very fast loading times, fun and easy. But the discs are expensive. and bad part you cant play DVDs. |

Anyways, I agree that you do get some great titles with the Xbox, but on PS2 you have variety. And the PS2 has online play as well, great thing is, you don't have to subscribe for Xbox Live to take advantage of it. While the Xbox might top the PS2 in First Person action games, overall the PS2 kills the Box in action games (Manhunt, Metal Gear Solid, etc etc etc)
And, even though I prefer Project Gotham Racing's style, how can you say no to this?
edit but anyways; either way really, you can't go wrong RJ. You'll have a pretty good selection of games from either console. What you can do, is rent an Xbox from Blockbuster for 1 weekend, with Project Gotham Racing 2, Halo and a few sports games. Then next weekend get a PS2 with a few key games from it. And see which you enjoy more. |

Yep, it's definitely all about the games and even though the XBOX is more powerful and does have its share of kick-ass titles (Halo, Splinter Cell, Project Gotham, Halo2 soon), the PS2 has it beat hands down.
... yes.. get PS2 (for now.. then get an XBOX, then a GameCube..)
... ooooh... and wait till Grand Turismo 4 comes out... holy fawk!!!

| I picked up a used GC a couple months ago and it's great, to say that the GC is only meant for kiddy games is wrong. There are tons of kids games, but lots of other great titles as well. I'm not big on racing and sports games, so PS2 didn't interest me that much. Xbox is a M$ product so I wanted to stear clear of that, plus the fact that tons of Xbox games are on PC as well so I can just play them on my computer. I only really wanted a PS2 for the final fantasy series, I just borrow it from my friend whenever I want to play FFX. Now I need to convince him to buy FFX2 :) |

| Yea, there's a bunch of great games on the GC that aren't "kiddy" :rolleyes: which a lot of people overlook. I mean, the Resident Evil series is exclusive to Nintendo now...and Eternal Darkness, Metroid, etc. |

some of you are forgetting that the PS2 Core system DOES NOT come with a network adapter(you need to purchase it seperately) while the xbox is already built in. And Xbox you got a hard drive which you can modify to use as a memory card or to store games! Plus, microsoft has said they are launching a LOT more titles this coming year, so who cares if PS2 has more titlesnow :D
And the FF series is coming to XBOX also

Final Fantasy isn't coming to Xbox. Ever. Trust me on this.
And the spec sheet is meaningless. The GC cpu is just as fast as the Xbox's Pentium 3. And the Cube's memory is better as well. They dont' mention on that specsheet that the XBox is using unified RAM, meaning that the whole system is sharing the RAM, whereas the Cube's RAM is split up, so there are no bottlenecks (meaning, too many things trying to access the RAM at once).

edit k, really, who was the moron that wrote that spec sheet. First off, the Cube does support HDTV. Second, it does 8 simultaneous textures. They also screwed up the memory bandwidth. The Xbox cannot do 40 million poly's per second (i'm really curios how they got that number from the 120 million). And the 6-12 million on the GC is a conservative number...the bare minimum so to speak. Most games push upwards of 20 million :rolleyes: I'm not dissing the 'Box. I know that it can push some beautiful graphics, but that spec sheet is full of . |
