I think the point that everyone seems to have missed is that TA isn't a free advertising service. Starting threads on here costs nothing, compared to the cost of say buying advertising space in 3D World or on ITM etc. This is basically why ITM doesn't allow promoters to start promotion threads in their forums anymore (as far as I'm aware, though I haven't been on ITM for quite a while).

However, there are members of our community who do work hard at promoting their events, who really do need as much support as we can give them. Basically, I am much more prepared to tolerate promotion threads from known community members than I am from someone who just signed up.

For example, escee over in Perth starts up an event. I have no problem with him starting a thread about it, he's a known community member and has been around for ages. But a new user turns up and makes a thread promoting their night, it's going to be locked and or deleted fairly quickly - they're basically no different to the people who flood our inboxes with junk.

:conf: does that include me webby:confused:

I in no way condone spamming ppl's inboxes in an attempt to get ppl on guestlists, nor do I abuse my right as a forum member (most of the time) with multiple craps threads or posts (:stongue: ok I can talk A LOT of e) but I appreciate forums such as TA, ITM and TT where I can post my occasional promo thread and pump up an event in our community.

This debate has raged on since the beginning of all forums I have been a member of and will continue to do so on this forum until clear posting rules and guidelines for promotional material are set - which is a shame really considering this was the last forum I knew of that allowed free posting and discussion without any problems so far :sadgreen:

I am happy as the head promo biatch for 5AM to take the wrap for any stoopid threads started by any of my team that I agree in most cases should be deleted if they are unwarranted spamming BUT have not seen a case in these forums for some time now.

I would also be more than happy to have a 5AM sticky thread that stayed in the top section of the board and Alb's and I could continually update with Webby's approval then our punters could post their reply's and discuss events there.

Any suggestions to make this forum a happier trance gurning bunny fest - that includes our crew - are more than welcome via PM or email.

Dunka,

loulou :tongue3

Sorry I should have clarified - that wasn't aimed at you, or any other regular user of these boards.

ITM Perth restricts the promotion threads, but if you are a regular contributer to the forums then they don't mind the threads being posted..

I always try to participate in any forum that I post events on as I don't think its right to abuse the forums for pure advertising purposes..

All sites I post also get listed on our links site at our website..

Unfortunately there are some people (none I've seen on here) who just spam their events, don't participate in any conversation etc .. and I think thats just rude! :)

I know i'm not the target either of your comments webby (well i hope not :stongue: :whip: ) just thought I'd mention my view/standpoint on this topic .. :)

I think if anyone wants to see the Trance scene in Aus get to an International standing where Aus is seen as a place to go for Trance (and not just of the cheddar variety!) then bitching needs to be cut and support given to all those who are in the scene and pushing it.

Push it real good *bops*

Dont forget that 5AM started through sites like TA & ITM, with a simple thread "who'd like to get involved in starting something new" People with a common interest decided to get together & create an event. Then normal posters on sites such as this got their first gig & became dj's, or decided to get involved in other ways. Without TA & ITM there would be no 5AM... which may make some of you happy, but then you would be somewhere else whingeing about something else. :tongue2 :toocool:
