Getting ready for class this morning my nose erupted in a gush of blood :eyes:
I dont know why it happened, ive never had a nosebleed before (well aside from fights and goofing around :toothless ) Perhaps it was all the alcohol i consumed last night and it thinned my blood?
************, it made me wonder...What the hell do you do when you have a nosebleed?
I never really paid attention to what other people do. Do you tilt ur head back? forward? Do u stand? Sit? Is there anything you can do to couagulate the blood?
I just stuffed tissues up there and it stopped after like a minute..but it was really weird.
What do you do when u get nosebleeds? |

| Never had one before come out of the blue, but I always thought you just tilt your head back and do the tissue thing. |

Either too much coke, or a tumor.
If it happens a lot more from now on get it checked out. But most likely it was just a freak occurance. |

| I used to have nosebleeds quite a bit. It's better not to tilt your head because that way blood will get in your stomach (maybe you like that?). Just pinch off your nose with one hand and apply pressure to the bridge of your nose with the other. Sit tight for a bit and it should stop. You can also try blowing your nose, which sometimes works, but that can get quite messy and has the potential of making it worse. If it still won't stop, call an ambulance. |

Tilt your head, and pinch the section of your nose just on your eyeline (the bridge), this will stop the flow of blood as the main blood flow is there.

The humidity factor in the air is also significant. If the air is dry, it can "crack" the skin inside the nose, like how your lips crack when they are dry...
usually, whent he nose bleeds, its becuase a little blood vessel has also been affected. But the nature of blood is to dry think and this is natures way of repairing your bleeding nose. |

I always get them when I'm tired/run-down.
The best plan is to get to a bathroom and run it under cold water, firstly because it clears the blood away quickly (so you don't have to bother with tissues or get your clothes stained) and because the cold water contracts all your blood vessels, which should (hopefully) constrict the bleeding more quickly. My grandmother's home-remedy was to put a cool facecloth on the back of your neck, but I'm not sure how well that works.
If you can't get to a bathroom, then yeah, just tilt your head back (even though it can be disgusting feeling and tasting the blood trickling down the back of your throat) and block it off with tissues or just your fingers if you haven't got any. If you don't do this it'll just keep on bleeding and it'll get quite messy. |
