yea so i'm not at Holden or Riveira cuz i couldn't manage to get work off tommorow .. so check this the show everyone loves to hate is coming to an end..
so yea BIG UPS to all the haters out there cuz this is ur moment .. I felt so guilty for not booking work off earlier to come out 2nite that I punished myself by watching this show only to find out that it was the last one. A rather uneventul end I might add with no special guests, no one standing outside, no return of Monica Deol etc. Did see some guy who looked like mot1on outside tho .. or was it Highroller, hrmzz..
btw. Darude Sandstorm came in on their all time list at #10 :D

It was a good show when Monica was still around... they actually did play one or two half decent tracks YEARS ago..
It's too bad that the show is going away - as much as it doesn't cater to 'our' music it at least was something positive on TV for the 'Dance' industry. Perhaps R&B killed it.

Swamper, I think it hindered our music rather helped it,
yes it got a genre a music not very well known onto television, but then they played THE WORST STUFF from that genre!
and they expect us to watch it? if we won't why should others?? |

Have any of you seen the list of DJs that have played on EC back in the day? Industry residents, international house and techno DJs...it wasn't always crap. It exposed people to a lot of music that we love that wouldn't have been exposed to it otherwise.
Quit hatin' already. |

w00t .. TOTA hateville, are we never satisfied?
i gotta agree with Swamps , as much as so many ppl here hated the show i don't think it helps the scene with the fact that it's off the air now than on it. Rap City is still on the air. Wedge is still on the air. R U Receiving is not. And now neither is EC.
Think about it, a lotta the DJ's that we like have been on that show before. Sure they only dropped like 1 or 2 tracks, but that's probably gonna be the closest bit of national TV exposure they'll ever get in this country. If you look at the trend on EC, a lof of the content back in the 90's was primarily Hip Hop.. that trend then moved more toward dance and even hints of electronica in 2000 and onwards. The Pop music content has ALWAYS been there since it started back in '89? Be it slow, who knows, perhaps in another 5-10 years things could have been a lot more different on that show with the direction that it was taking. I think all it needed was a strong host again like Monica Deol to help add that bit of elegance it lost when she departed.
Their last track ever played (voted by site visitors) was Alice Deejay - Better off Alone. Not the greatest track, but I still think it says something. Too bad it wasn't the Dumonde Remix.

| Ok, everyone hates it now with bad deejays and crap dance music and freaky looking ppl. I do think that it served it's purpose in the mid 90's when dance music was building in North America. I think it's a part of our fabric honestly because they were pushing the euro sounds in 1995 and no one was really doing that on air at that time. They had big guests from back in the days like the real mcCoy, dr.alban and others. I mean I watched it more back in the mid 90's every so often to see what new euro was coming out. I think the show died in the last few years with the lame hosts and the club scene in toronto growing anyway. I won't miss it but it did play a part in at least my music experience over the years. |
