someone posted this on usenet:
Saddam has been with the US intelligence services all along.
He agreed to be evacuated, just before the fall of Baghdad,
along with his family and close associates.
The deal was that he can go into exile on the surrendering of power
and therefore the avoidence of stiffer resistance in Baghdad,
resulting in much less US casualties.
The capture of the man in the hole is an event that simply never
happened. A bull fabricated PR stunt that anyone, even with
half a brain, can see through.
The Photo's?
These were taken months ago and shows Saddam with a false
grey beard and black wig. Note the absence of a picture of daily
newspaper that could of been show alongside the captive, that would
would prove the actual date. Note also the absence of grey hair on
the head, even at the roots (would a man on the run for his life
carry a bottle of of grecian 2000?). Note also the lenght of beard
and just wonder how long really it would take to grow this lenght
(possible much longer than 8 months). Note also the picture of the
clean shave Saddam and you will see thier is slight stubble growth.
Stubble growth on a clean shave man?
This is all an elaborate hoax that has been planned and implemented for
obvious reasons. You only have to ask yourself - who benefits from
this event? Say no more.
If I am right then this is how it will all play out:
There will be no trial. Saddam's death will be faked before this
happens. It will be reported that he has died of natural causes,
maybe a heart attack (well he is 66). His death will be verified
by a team of US surgeons who tries to save his life. But before
he dies he would of already revealed the vital evidence concerning
the mystery of the WMD. A tape recording will presented that exonerate
Bush and CO.
Bush will win his next election. And for his part in the deal
Saddam and Sons can now live happily ever after. |

| I noticed the story died a bit too quickly...like it was all over the news for about 2 -3 days, then it's back to regular life... a bit strange indeed. Can't exactly say why but I feel something's wrong too.. |

I also felt that the part on the news where this "seargent ?" asked that trooper for Saddams words a bit odd. (kind of acted)
It looked like it was the 99th take and they had only 100 changes to do it right. |

well, you can't report the same story day after day. if no new information is being released, you can't write a new story. |

Quite, otherwise it would sound like this:
Saddam just woke up. He scratches himself. Then he got up and walked to the can and took a whiz and ripped one. The guards got him some coffee and a donut. ....
you get the pictar :p |

Yeah but I dunno, it's kind of a huge thing and usually they like to find the maximum information about the event or give the same information differently just to keep talking about it or plain simply show off about the fact they caught him...Being used to the media's general behavior towards such events, I just have a vague feeling that's something's missing... but heh, who am I to judge, I'll leave the rest to the "political discussions" section :tongue2 |

The burden of proof lies on the poster, which has less than no credibility, citing not only an outlandish story, but also (apparently) posting anonymously.
In order for such a thing to transgress several things would have to occur which combined have about a chance of lightning striking someone twice.
(a.) total corruption of our government on many levels (all serving only one person.. president bush, yeah ing right, everyone has their own agenda within our government, some people just follow under somebody else to gain other thing)
(b.) saddam's total cooperation (yeah right)
(c.) a level of trust between saddam hussein and whoever lined up the deal
(d.) the media somehow not getting word of this.
While some nuts out there would like to suggest this is easily possible, I would like to suggest they are pathetic, and possess the mind of an infant and have about the same resistance to suggestion. I mean, I hate bush just as much as the next level headed citizen of the world, but give me a break. It's too grand for him to conjure, and the risks are far too great for the rewards. On no level's is it logical, and I sincerely doubt it's even possible.
Look at watergate, it only takes a few people to bust open a "conspiracy", and that was chump compared to what this guy is suggesting. |

It wasnt anonymous, but it wasnt posted by a particularly respected poster either.
