got you guys. although my case is slightly wierder. i was the oddball type
at school, the guy that wasnt really interested in going out that much. it
got to a point that after trying to go out with my airhead classmates, and
feeling miserable when i did, i just stoopped leaving my house altogether.
id go to friends houses, or maybe even by myself to watch a movie or something
on the odd occasion. i have been listening to electronica since i was 11,
and loved it, but the thouhgt of actually going to a club never crossed my
mind, it wasnt till exactly a year since yesterday that i, only 14, was
blessed and was able to go see deepdish. from that night on, everything
changed for me, and and school social functions and such are just completely
disgusting. yes, ive had to scheme and plot my way into clubs time and time
again to be able to experience the bauty that si electronica, but the end
justifies the means. now, i have a club i stick to, and basically go there
whenever i got out that has anything to do with music and or partying. in
this year, ive seen about 10-12 big name djs, countless great nights with
local DJs, and yet ive attended less than 5 "normal" social functions.

but... when i do have to be dragged to a crappy club, and the supposed
DJ is doing what he does best, sucking, well, it does make me pretty miserable.
that is why i avoid it like the plague. and last night sasha threw the set of
a lifetime, which will worsen things much more, hehe. and if this is at age 15,
well, by the time im actually old enough to be in the clubs... well, i dunno
what will be of me.

also, dont be so hard on ty DJs, it may be thrir first time, and who knows,
they might turn out to be the next Sasha:

quote:
Discovering house music as a punter at Manchester's Hacienda club in 1987,
Sasha, then plain old Alexander Coe, struck it lucky when he volunteered to spin
tunes at a nearby pub. The fact he had only about 20 records in his possession
didn't hold him back - a talent for bullting, he freely admits, had more to
do with his start than any talent behind the decks.

"Oh, I definitely blagged my way into it!" he says with a laugh. "My first gig,
I basically told someone I could DJ and I just turned up with my records. I'd never
even used Technics decks before. I actually thought the pitch control was some sort
of volume!"

"But it seemed to go OK. I probably didn't catch on to it that quickly. It took me
a while. I'm sure my first few sets were absolutely abysmal, but I seemed to get
more work, so it can't have been that bad!"

:p :stongue: :p :stongue:

I have this whole quiet, serious look to me, even when I'm having a really good time. People that don't know me very well are often like, "what's wrong man, aren't you having a good time?".

same here. also, the way i talk. im rather direct at times, but people say i have a
"very harsh voice", and sometimes think im yelling at them, scolding them, when im
simply talking to them normally. they think im pissed off all the time or something,
heh.

I stopped reading when you told the lady friend to off :nervous:

Never tell the ladies to off, they all have a circle, and this circle does not just extend to a few friends, it extends to the entire female population of the world. Somehow they have a ring, or "cult" where they know EVERYTHING you say to a woman. Watch out, for the sake of your sexual sanity!!!

The telling ladies to 'f*ck off) thing can be weird and sometimes understandable. I am not usually a man who get's upset about too much but even the most placid of people do have a breaking point and as such this was reached one night about 6 years ago when I snapped and did exactly the same thing.
The scenario was this. Me and some friends were are at a table listening to a sucky ass DJ (who shall remain nameless) drinking a few beers when this quite drunk lady decided that we needed her attentions. Ironically my two friends leapt at this idea but she wasn't interested admittedly she did string them along as she got a few drinks out of them.
Then the point came when she snatched the beer out of my hand and laughed at me. I promptly told her to F* off and snatched my beer back. I wasn't really in the mood for drunk people. At this she confessed her undying love for me and that she didn't want to have anything to do with the other guys just me... I thought she was taking the mickey at first but she didn't stop after that (much to my GFs amusement). I have to agree with previous poster on the whole though as it's not a good idea but on the same count you can never really tell what members of the opposite sex are thinking... even if they can be somewhat predictable at times.

Clubbing at crap clubs in general.
Us DJs are a weird breed and we definately have a different way of looking at things. For my own part I have never been content to look at others and admire them and not want to try what they are doing for myself. If something is cool I want to do it not just watch. Anytime you take a step deeper into an artform you essentially destroy the face value of it for yourself as I have with clubbing. A DJ has to be really good for it to make an impression.

Here comes the really frustrating bit,
Wait until some of you newer guys have been doing it for 10 years or so. You just know that most of the guys in the top 100 aren't as good as you technically, but have had the breaks. The poll should actually be renamed the world's most popular DJ.
It is also possible to trick the process so you can register as may votes as you want for whoever (Even yourself ;) ).

Rant over... the hijackers have been subdued. :)

rofl. FINALLY, we got Nem to talk about something else than
just DJing. haha. but now that i think of it, i dont really
recall any time where i told a woman to off. im just
such a sucker for girls, not necessarily hot, but when a cute
girl looks you in the eyes with that sad puppy face, she
always seems to be able to get anything she wants... bah.

something cool about being in my particular situation is
classic tracks. since im nothing but a lil' kid basically
i havent experienced all those massive oldschool classics
that anyone who's alive has heard. when DJ throws a few
classics in a set, it's real fun for me, as i get to hear
the old choons ive only heard in compilations of the past.

kinda bugs my friends (all of them have been clubbing for
a while)

Nem is a sucker for the ladies in a big way... get's him into all sorts of trouble too. He probably should tell more of them to f*ck off and he would have a quieter life. :D

haha, i SO know what you mean...
sirhiss
Ok ok, but you guys need to understand, I was pissed ( in every sense of the word ), and when some girl said "you look deeply unhappy" I took it as an insult.
What kind of pick up line is that anyway? Even I can do better than that.

Don't really see how that would make a difference when you started clubbing compared to when you started DJing. A sucky DJ is always a sucky DJ. And being a DJ yourself surely you must hate to hear someone worse than yourself destroy all manner of bizzare R/B mixed with polka etc?

Perhaps I missunderstood? :)

i meant that, because I started spinning before I was old enough to go clubbing, i've always looked at club DJs from a DJ's point of view , instead of having looked at a club DJ from the perspective of an average clubber who's ignorant to the intricacies of DJing. that's exactly the reason that i _especially_ hate to hear a DJ worse than myself screwing a set up :p
