i dunno, recently it just hit me that i wanted to start dj-ing. for now, nothing serious, but just as a fun hobby to pick up while at school. of course, everyone seems to start out with vinyls, but i find that being at school i can get my hands on so many mp3s and rip them to cd that would be almost impossible to find on vinyl. being so, i wanna look for a nice cd player to start out with. i dont wanna spend too much, but at the same time i dont want something ty either...just something good for a serious beginner to play with. i've been searching around and i saw a Numark CD Mix-1, which is like a dual cd player and mixer integrated into one. do u guys think this something good to start with, or do u recommend something else? any suggestions are appreciated...i'm on the thin line between buying and not buying, so please help!!!!!!
thanks!!!! |

yeah!!
the CDJ-1000's are sooooooooooooooooooo good!!!!!!!
my friend at my local DJ store just got them in and they sound EXACTLY like VINYL!!!!
the best ever! the most amazing sound.. i couldnt belive it.. :)
these things are up to US$1000 though.. hehe.. guess that why they are called the 1000's..
this is gonna be future technology.. and within 2-3 years all CD players will have vinyl-like sounds.. maybe even in a decade..- no more vinyl? |

$500...I dunno man...deffinetly not Pioneer, but don't worry, there are other that soudnds very good and will be an awesome start for you...
BY THe way...about CDJ 1000s...I wanted to buy them...not cause I have the money...I don't...LOL:p :p :p but then I changed my mind, although they are exactly like a turntable..have backspins, scratching.......they don't have the effects I have on my CDJ 100's..the JET, WAH, and ZIP effect..I know there are effect machines that do it, but I like it more when they are on the CD Player it self. |

yah the new 1000's are amazing. but they are like 1000-1200 a PIECE NOT A PAIR.
i'd say look into a decient pair that you think would hold their value. so that way when the 1000's go down (in a few years) you can sell your pair off and have a little cash towards them. that or u can get a cheap pair and not blow your loot yet - but i dont think you wanna deal with bad cd players.
And dude don't go bitchin out vinyll dj's. im one of them. i gotta say when you do have a record store by you, its nice as hell to go there, hang out, talk to the people, pick up some random records and just listen to them. Im sure its easier to burn a cd, and have it playin in 10min. damn cheaper too. but i personally.. i dunno like when im doin a set i like lookin through my records thinking about which ti play next, it gives me a much more solid feeling about my music. I do think you get a crisper sound as well (for certain songs).
also i dunno while on the subject, don't you guys think its a little crazy how many different formats there are? you got dat players, mp3 players, record players, cd players, mini disk players...
i was talking to some people at the record store about this.. its gettin kinda nuts to be ontop of all of this stuff.
anyway... good luck in your search for equipment. it's a great hobby. just be careful if u get cd players don't go burning every song u hear on cd. cuz you will never be able to keep track of them!! thats another cool thing about records. they cost money so your forced to pick wisely, and u dont get em as fast as u would mp3s so you learn to work with each record really well. |

The CD mix1 is not a good device... the mixer doesn't have any Eq'.
For 500$ get the Numark CDN-34, it's the best cd player in that price... it's great!
If you don't like it than get a Denon DN-1800f... it sells for about 550$ and is a very good cd player.
Don't bother with the Gemini stuff... it's not worth the money. |

i'd recommend AGIANST anything gemini and that numark mixer set you were talking about.
if you're tight on money check out the numark cdn 23s http://www.123dj.com/cd/numark/cdn23s.html i personally have the 24s and i havent found anything to complain about... its nice to get dual cd cause then you can get a 19 inch mixer and mount everything on a rack. |
