Alright, now that I've finally got home, I'll try and come up with a review while I'm still somewhat under the influence (of the party)...
Got in fairly early, around 1am or so, with the club half empty. It filled up fairly quickly though and by about 3:30 it was about full. The crowd was great, and there was such a wicked vibe there last night! Nice to see some TAs come out too.. Anyways, first thing I thought once we got in was that the club resembled Montreal's Stereo club a lot. The decor is virtually identical, really simple underground feel that works, with lots of spots for lounging and chilling... The subtle lighting I think is perfect for the club, although at times it was too dark... The sound system is unbeliavable, so crisp and clean, yet penetrating, the way it should be imo...
Sean Miller played an amazing warm up set, he really set the mood that was perfect for the rest of the night. Sander K though, WOW, he proved why he's one of the best! He played such an incredible set, so groovy and funky in the beginning, and so ing hard and driving nearing the end... I wish the club hadn't closed so early, cuz I was ready for more, and more, and more... :crazy: Can't wait for him to come back again! I'm glad I had a chance of meeting him after the party, lol, he's so ed.. :haha:
So, all in all its the best party i've been to since the summer, by far.. I just wish it kept going for another few hours :/ Oh well, another time i guess, now it's time to crash...

Good to know that BOA is the place to be... I couldn't make it last nite, but I guess there's one more spot to visit in downtown Toronto from now on.

When I passed the entrance to Boa around 12:30 I was like WTF is this? It didn't have that club feel bcuz it was surrounded by restaurants. Maxtuh and I had a coupla drinks before making it in just before 2AM. The security checks were tighter than at Guv, they got a metal detector too. hehehe... Then we walk upstairs into the club and I was like :eyes: :eyes:. The sound system was phenomenal!! Powerful yet crisp and clear and the acoustics (Boa is a converted movie theatre) provided for an amazing experience.
Sean Miller was doing a good job at keeping the crowd movin and preping them for Sander K. The man himself came on around 3:30 and took this party to the next level. That 'africa-ca-ca-ca-ca' track was awesome!! Also, the remix of Intergalactic and Funk Phenomenon drove the crowd insane. Sander's mixing was very good, track selection was pretty good as well. He was always smiling and interacting with the crowd. He even came out on the dance floor a couple of times towards the end of his set. Got the chance to shake his hand and tell him to come back to Toronto more often.
I must admit, I really liked Boa but there are a few things that are missing/need tweaking:
- Sinks in the upstairs washrooms (guess they'll be put in before the official launch)
- The bathroom stalls should be cleaned very few hours since they are unisex. There was TP and bottles etc. thrown all over the place.
- The lineup to get in and the coatcheck lineup must be sped up. I think assigning more staff to these locations will help.
- I love the movie theatre style levels on the dance floor but walking around in the dark and trying not to trip on the steps took some getting used to. I think having those tiny lights embedded into the edges of the steps (like at famous players) would make things safer plus add a cool effect.
Good things about Boa: friendly staff, plenty of room dance & the concert sound system!! :eyespop: :crazy:
I will definitely be going back in February for Satoshi Tommiie. I hope more TAs can make it out then. Shoutouts to: Maxtuh, RabbitJoker, Techno Addict, TomEboy, Lurid & friend Joel plus artie and energy2infinity?? who I met for the first time. It was awesome partying with you guys. Never thought I would have this much fun at a prog event. :tongue2 |

I ended up going to a strip joint instead of Boa last night with a few friends from High School. It was fun! lol
One question; how tight were they on the whole age thing? |

When we were in line, and they started letting people in, the FIRST thing the bouncer said was "You must be 21 to enter Boa, if youre not 21, dont waste my time." I thought after this comment that maybe the staff here had a massive sized pickle up their asses. But upon entering the club i found the staff to be the friendliest staff in any club in TO. Even the bouncers (who i was talking to towards the end) all have a love for the music and the scene and were dancing at the end of Sanders set as hard as everyone else!) They even had complimentary sweat towels handed out amongst the crowd later in the night. Yes, the whole bathroom situation was a little ty at the end (when they closed the basement lounge at the end) but im sure proper facilities will be added (sinks, mirrors) to the individual stalls for the grand opening. |

I REALLY need to see pics. My boy Phil gets pretty crazy when he dances sometimes. I'd love to see him killin it to Sander K while he's working :whip: |

Maxtuh took some pretty sick pics! You'll see what i mean about "plenty of room to dance" when you see the shots of me gettin down to Sander when he first came on! |

they have very good/friendly/helpful staff there...!!! |
