i never thought i'd be able to get a car like this but i got a nordic green 2004 mazda rx-8 on saturday. well, it wasnt and still isnt technically mine yet, because insurance wasnt open i wasnt able to find out how much it would cost me, so even with all the "wheeling and dealing" i knew i couldnt afford it if insurance was too much.
me and my fiance spent like 5 hours at the car place beating them down on the price (not on purpose like most people but we seriously couldnt afford what they kept pushing) until it was kinda in our price range. we're really going to have to stretch it and live tight for awhile (till a raise or new job) but it's do-able. we really got a steal on the car (we had to or else we wouldnt be able to afford it regardless what "cut-backs" we were willing to make). every aspect of the sale was already done except the final signing and we couldnt do that because i was unsure due to insurance. so they were pushing for us to take the car on a "GBA" which basically means you get to drive the car until monday (when insurance is open and i can price it finally). so i just called my insurance and it turns out that its not but like $40 more than what i pay on my old car (a 99 eclipse). so that means i can afford to pull it off! i'm so excited, this car's hot !
my fiance's always a safe and defensive driver, she's just always been that way. but when she drove the rx-8 she was driving as crazy as me, i couldnt believe it!
just had to share my excitement with everyone :) |

Hell yeah man!
I test drove one the other day and was throughly impressed. The only thing I was dissappointed about was the lack of a turbo charger in the based models. That's a shame, since the RX7's trademark was it's '87-'90 turbo editions, which just tore everything up.
Still, the rotary engine lives up to it's name. You need to have a mechanic that is willing to remove the air filtration system, to increase your HP. The US rotary got gutted due to emissions, but still torques. |
