Criticism ;)

and on that note i think you are trying to make an example, which will of course stand out with it being mr dresden, of someone to show implementation of the rules, whether or not this is true or not, i dont know but bear in mind this is only my opinion, and surely these can be expressed freely on TA?

it may be 'just the internet' but that should not equal a free for all on flaming ppl just cos they don't like being criticised

Dresden calling someone "dork boy" has got to be less of a flame than your signature's bashing of Paul van Dyk. I'm all in favor of closing down threads that are reduced to mere flame wars, but I think that Dave should be allowed to offer a glib reply to someone who is advocating stealing from artists. Giving the guy a real reply would be dignifying him too much.

ah the irony the mods (or some) present. oh well, they are the mods, so they know how to handle these type of situations, dont they?

long ago and far away in land before mp3's there was an industry. it was called the music industry. this little bad boy would sign up all the acts that it deemed commercially viable and then scheduled their release when the time was right. the music industry had a handle on how it worked, when people would hear things and when they would be able to own a copy of the song. then came along the mp3 and of course, the mp3 downloading site. then things got really crazy. people would record their favorite dj's and post thier sets online for all to hear.

as this was happening this band named motorcycle recorded a song called "as the rush comes" in december 2002 and soon after decided to play it on a radio show. little did they know that everyone would tape this radio show and trade it all over the net. they hadn't even shopped the song to any record label and had no idea that so many people would identify with it. so, while the slow process of signing the record to a label was happening, fans of the song decided it was getting tired, while singing it every weekend when they would go out dancing. meanwhile, the record label was gearing to put this record out, but these things take time and planning so that they might be able to conceptualize the band and perhaps give them a future career. meanwhile, the fans grumbled. "no motorcycle released as a cd single." (insert frowny face here)

basically what i'm saying (after having quite a few glasses of wine) is that the music industry has not caught on to the pace that the kids are at. it's nobody's fault that this song is only getting a commercial cd single release this coming monday, jan 5th. i just hope you all understand that we're not trying not let you have the song, it's just that this song caught fire long before the bean counters could take notice and act upon it. hopefully, success of songs like ATRC in the charts will open doors at labels for songs and artists like this earlier and bring the music to the fans faster.

i'm just happy that it has touched so many lives in a positive way : )

Nice post Dave! I support everything about it. I'm sure alot of people agree too but with this day of age and technology allowing so many ways to manipulate music and sound.. I don't think there will be any chance of getting back to the golden age of the music industry.

It's really hard nowadays to make a business out of Music. What alot of people don't understand is that artists need to earn money from their music to live and eat in order to continue what they do and make more music. Alot of ppl just think artists make music for fun!

hahah, my sig . .
well Paul_Van_Dyk in my sig is aka indyircjunkie in the UKTA chat room and is known as politicsofdancin on these forums.
She posted in this thread ;)
and if my sig causes offence to anyone, then i shall glady remove it.

Dave is fully entitled to reply to what Narcissus posted but come on, the reply given by Mr Dresden was hardly constructive.

Threads on these forums have been closed / deleted when flaming starts to take over from an other wise good topic.

Mr Dresden is not being singled out because of who he is, Narcissus is just as much in the wrong with what he posted.
so i also suggest to Narcissus that he also thinks about what he posts before he posts in the future.

Any further issues on this matter please PM me with so this thread can go back to topic. thank u

erm, I think this thread is getting out of hand... for one just because I think the vocals are cheesy doesn't mean I am jealous! what are you talking about you freaks :haha:

secondly I do think its a good tune, just that a dub mix would probably suit me more. I think Dave on the other hand has every right to defend himself as I would be pretty pissed off if someone slagged off one of my tunes. I think he is a great producer and has done some fantastic stuff this year - at the same time other tunes which I'm not so keen on. :)

1 small comment... that kicking wasnt reality, and paul van dyk aint a member of this board (to my knowledge).

if an artist cant take his critisism then its sad, because if you dont know that your stuff isnt quite right then how are you ever going to improve it?

my view is, if you dont like it dont buy it, but if someone says that they dont your tune, then try and find out why! there isnt one single artist on the entire planet who is above critisism.
m0sh
