In other words, there is absolutely no way to presuade a girl or guy for that matter, to enjoy the type of music we like to listen to. Just like everyone here, it takes a lot of dedication, searching and listening to really enjoy some of the unknown artists who are really geniuses themselves. In other words, we deserve this profound music because of the time we put into it. We aren't fed the garbage, we go out and search for the gold. |
i was gonna say something along those lines, but I didn't feel like typing it out. We shouldn't really force our bf's/gf's to like the music. Sure, it would be great if they liked it, but making them sit through a bunch of your favourite tunes is meaningless because to them it would all be the same. He already let her listen to some tunes and she didn't like them, so what the hell is the point of letting her listen to all the suggestions made in this thread? It's not like she's gonna see the light all of the sudden once she hears Tears From The Moon.
Compromise, and deal with it. |

when i first started dating my gf, she hated all sorts of trance. but now, a year on, she likes about every 2nd song or more i put on. for some people its an aquired taste.
yes, my gf liked cheese first (she still does, but likes the good stuff even more), and slowly moved on to better things. just give it time : )
edit: yeah dont force her or anything. all i did was play trance at my house or in the car. i was never like "like this or off".. |

Heres an idea, dont force your tastes on others.
Seriouslly all these "How do I make someone like trance" threads are incredibly lame. |

i believe that everyone has a tune that will make them give electronica the respect it deserves...it's just a matter of finding that tune for each person. my ex was converted by Dumonde vs. Lange - Memory (Lange Dub). I find that generally girls tend to go for really melodic tunes _with vocals_. Maybe try playing for her a remix of a well-known non-trance track? try Sarah McLachlan - Fallen (G&D Remix)...if she doesn't eventually cave under an onslaught of great trance, then trying to convert her is probably more trouble than it's worth.

Play her stuff that she knows!!!!!!
People prefer to hear songs that they already know and are familiar with. Even play her some dance remixes of popular songs. It is a gradual process, so she won't like the extended mixes and the hard stuff straight away.
Suggestions:
Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl
ATB - 9PM (Till i come)
Bob Marley vs Funkstar Deluxe - Sun is shining
Chicane - Don't Give it Up
Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue
Delerium - Silence
DJ Sammy - Boys of summer (hey, it's a start :p )
Groove Armada - My Friend
Jason Nevin's - I'm in Heaven
Love Inc. - Broken bones
Michael Woods feat. Imogen Bailey - If you want me
Modjo = Lady
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You
Room 5 - Make luv
Safri Duo - Played Alive (The Bongo Song)
Tom Novy - Without Your Love
Linus Loves - Stand Back
Start with house
Stay away from the prog & extended mixes!!!!!!! |

| you cant force people to like music, but you can introduce them to it properly... my girlfriend used to be a rock chic until i took her clubbing.. that was 2 years ago and she hasnt touched rock since! |

Thanks for the help so far.
Some of the music she likes, (I hate):
Groove Coverage - Moonlight Shadow, God Is A Girl (Of course)
Dina - Bli Hos meg, Evig din
And of course DJ Sammy and all the cheese already mentioned.
Some music I have played and she now really like (Vocal mixes):
Laze - Stepping out
Green Court - Silent Heart
Plummet - Damaged
It's a start, so more tunes like this I think??
Vocal and Radio edit is off course the ones that’s works best. House music is definitely no need to try. And I don’t want to listen to music when we make love to her, I (and the neighbours) wants the sound of her, ..its half the fun..!! |

| Start with the bootlegs that tends to be the best option, I played Verdi Music (Picotto vs Madonna) to my bird then played Verdi and she claimed she did'nt like Verdi but loved Verdi Music. |
