I heard that as of Jan 1st of this year, you can't re-enter Canada unless you have some special Canadian travel ID card that goes along with your passport...

anyone know any details about this?

Yeah, i was about to not leave to Italy because of that. But then the consulate reassured me i have until the end of February. I think it applies only to those holding certain passports like EU country passports. :D

k, are you sure though? cuz i heard its a piece of ID that goes along with your Canadian passport, i don't think this applies to tourists or foreign nationals...
failsafe
I think it's only for non-citizens of canada.

yes the ID card is for non-canadian citizens who are permenant residents / landed immigrants.

Foriegn nationals here visiting do not need an ID card, foreign nationals from most western EU countries do not need a visa to travel within Canada. Where as from most other countries they will need a Visa stamp on their passport.

as I believe trancegeek, you're a canadian citizen, so you've got no worries... chill.

Citizenship or no citizenship, if you're a young male, middle-east born/roots you can expect "delays" at the border.
