If my beatmatching is off for some reason, I just tweak the spindle on the record that's being mixed in.
As DKNYlady said, better to fix it up than to listen to a nice little trainwreck. Not to mention that what you hear as "off" as a DJ is generally unnoticed by most of your audience. |

iv only been djing for like 4months maybe a bit less and iv used the pitch eva since i started... i rkn if i had of started on touching the record i would b using that all the time and would b absolutely hopeless on the pitch... but then again im new i wouldnt have a clue lol
i dont have technics turntables n have neva used em n the pich is pretty good to me lol <: |

Looking like a right Wally is the same as looking like a right idiot.
He he, it’s “Bob’s your uncle”, but that’s a bit harder to explain. Basically you say that to indicate that after doing xyz you’ll get the desired effect that you want. Eg. “To get to the post office, turn right at the end of this road, carry on for 100 yards then turn left. Bob’s your uncle!” ;)

I bet if PVD or AVB or Tiesto had said something similar 90% of the board members would have treated it as gospel, quoting it at every opportunity that cropped up. Regardless of whether you like his music or not, the man was a legend and a massively talented DJ. Shasha is quoted as saying that his mixing skill was simply phenomenal, so I think that makes what TDV said in regards to mixing worth paying attention to. |

| I have old crap Numarks, DJ Lazy, and that might be the main reason cuz they suck on speeding up afterward. I guess I should try pitch correction on my friends Technics. Thanks for pointing this out. |

i used to correct with the platter a lot, but these days im finding im touching the record less and less and using the pitch more now, and getting smoother mixes.
TDV wasnt the only dj that said that.. i think Roger Sanchez or some house dj also said the same thing.. that a good dj should never even have to touch the platter / record |

| well it depends what time it is comein in at, if its near the end pof a phrase i might do a kick scratch and switch it over so that is sounds like your mergin the beats hip-hop style this is something different so it gets the audances attention, if this isint ur style you can kill the bass on the incoming track and try fixing it live like that or leave it on at full and fix it that way, just its better to make whatever you do soundlike you meant to do it |

| I use the pitch (or try to more so now than before) but I also have touched the incoming or outgoing record as well to correct things. I have a friend whos done some parties off this site who recently told me to always try and correct the outgoing record if you're touching it because it will be less noticable if you're mixing out of it...makes sense to me. |

| all depends on the timing. If you're going to touch any record there are many factors. Any kind of vocal would preclude touching that one. Personally id touch whichever one has a lower volume/bass. |

Was simply a comment on people taking Famous djs words as gospel and not discovering things that work for them personally.... Tony de vit was a fantastic dj- but just because he was a well known dj, does not make his opinion/technique/advice- or any other djs for that matter- any more important than anyone elses and should not be taken as such

ok to get back on the original subject...
i can usually catch a track going out of sync pretty early. if you can catch it early enough, it very easy to fix, a little tap ot a push, will usually fix the prob. if its a true AMTRAC disaster i will just cut the original track, and apologize to anyone listening. but the only people who ever listen to me are just my friends so its not like im spinning in a club or anything. |
