Egypt 2010...a dream or a reality? (pg. 2)

there's something wrong with fifa if this doesn't go to south africa. ok, there'll be something even more wrong with fifa. SA should have had the 2006 world cup except for some poor little kiwi who couldn't handle the pressure and decided to go home rather than cast his vote last time (and got rewarded with life membership of fifa for not doing his job).
SA has the facilities, having hosted both cricket and rugby world cups recently. It's the only country in africa that can really pull this off, and the benefits to the region would be huge. tis about time fifa started showing some responsibility to the game rather than just keeping their snouts in the trough

you have got to be kidding... firstly it's going to be in Africa and secondly the security levels for most countries citizens there would be laughable by current standards. Asia has had one WC so now its europe, africa, south america & Australasia's turns first imho

I was just being sarcastic:disbelief

I think itīll be in South Africa, the vote for 2006 was so close between Germany and South Africa for the Tournament, so I think itīll be South Africa in 2010.
And of course I hope Germany will defend their title in 2010!!

any more to this argument? of the three contenders, i think egypt is by far the weakest bid. The other two contenders qualified for the last world cup, so giving them host entry won't seem unfair (SA getting walloped 4-0 on the weekend is beside the point :)
tunisia is hosting african nations cup now, SA has already done the world cups of cricket and rugby, when was the last major tournament succesfully held in egypt (not trying to attack egypt their, but i've not heard of them hosting events on that scale). SA has several major cities that can support the group stages. I plan on booking my room for the month as soon as the decision oges down, a month in capetown, this time with live world cup football, my idea of the perfect holiday.

Now the real fight begins, convincing my wife that a holiday based around football is a good idea.
Fresh Prince
Since SA just lost by a narrow margin to Germany I can't believe they will skip them the next time, I also think it's better that it's held in SA, with current world affairs I doubt they will entrust WC to an islamic country especially when considering Israel, Iraq are in the neighbourhood... It'll be in SA, use common sense.

If ever I wanted to murder a person it was that punk! Ahh, the biggest let down of all time. Did you know his daughter (or grand-daughter ) works for Eufa? So maybe he got a bit of pressure to award the tournament to Germany.

SA will be awesome. I dont know much about Egypt but if the world cup were held tomorrow SA could do it. We have already got the facilities, infrustructure, everything.

We have hosted world cups for rugby, cricket, hockey, volleyball... and also lots of international conferences. Plus weve got Nelson Mandela :tongue3 beat that!

I think Egypt would be a really good candidate. I've lived in Cairo. They have a lot of experience and know how with security, especially since a lot of tourists flock to Egypt. Moreover it's infrastructure has improved dramatically (I saw pics ;) ), and with 6 years to go a lot would be done. Stadium wise, it has 8 stadiums within one hour of Cairo, one of them being the largest stadium in Africa. And in terms of hosting events, it has hosted many international games, including the African Cup of Nations 4 times. I believe it is a good candidate to host it.

you guys are so pathetic

look what you are saying :

South-Africa : we have Mandela

Egypt : we have the pyramids

ahahahahaha

you have to know that it's gonna be a tough race between two candidates : Morocco and South Africa , Egypt and Tunisia-Lybia are out of the race for sure.

MOROCCO 2010 ALL THE WAY , we have the best geo-political situation (easiest way to get to Africa to watch the world cup , Spanish/Portuguese/French/Italian supporters can watch a game the same day and get back to their countries) , stability (we are a kingdom unlike those fake-ass democracies where the leader wins 99% of the votes and gets to place his son after him) , security (you can walk out the streets and no one will bother you or rape you or kill you unline South Africa) etc ...

i'm saying it again : FIFA WORLD CUP MOROCCO 2010 , period.
