Hey, I'm trying to figure out how he did that euh .. connected sound. YOU know what I mean ? So I don't want to know how he made his SOUND, but how it works to have that continuous portamento feeling. It seems as if he plays his entire song with the pitch bend wheel. But that seems rather limited to me. So there is another way to do it I suppose. I just wonder what way that is. If I try to portamento everything I can't get near the connected feeling you have with his remix. I can get that feeling when I have a fast tune, but not with slow single notes like he does. You hear this type of sound bending in many songs, so I don't think it's a big secret to the public, it's just a huge secret to me I hope :)
Cheers ! |

He has this souhnd. It is asif he NEVER releases his key. But only moves the pitch up and down and up and down, resulting in a tune that is actually one signle, that is being pitch bend, at least that's how it sounds. So just the main 'lead' in Rock your body remix from Armin V.
Just press a note and twist your mod wheel/pitch, you'll know instantly what I'm talking about. Just listen to the song, it's quite obvious what sound I mean when you listen to it
Thanks ! |

Something like THIS ???
Yeah.. The sliding pitch thing is portamento.. basically for each note it plays, it looks at the pitch of the last note and slides towarsd the current note at a speed depending on how much portamento you set..
Armin Van Buuren - Punk... lol :stongue: ;) |

damnbed, how do you get it like that ?
What VST did you use maybe I have it and could try it out...
Thanks ! |

| did you do anything specific with attack/release etc.. ? If I do it, it portamentoes UP, but when it has to go down, it stops like a normal note... |

about every synth has it..
try portamento.. glide.. whatever it is named
then you can choose the port(amento) time or the glide (0-127)
to set the time between the 2 notes. In songs like punk there's a fast glide so it should be set rather quick. When you want this effect you mostly want the synth to be set as a mono synth, meaning you can only play one note at a time so don't forget to set the synth to mono. My an1x makes a difference between portamento and legato. Legato is a way of playing a keyboard where you only release one key after another one is played so you can make them do the slide effect without using the portamento (hehe, sorry for making things difficult ;)). With this you can do rather complicated and crazy stuff especially when it comes to acid.
