Cheap Technics?
View this Thread in Original format
DJ Cheesy
I'm looking for the cheapest place where I can buy new Technics SL1200 (M3D is prefered but MK2 is fine too). Pretty much every place I've seen sells them for about $500. I live in the San Fransico bay area (specifically the east bay) so anywhere in this area is fine.

Internet stores are good too, cause I can get a local store (Guitar Center) to price match to any advertised price (but if its not based in California shipping might be cheaper than tax anyway, 8.25%).

So please post any websites that have them cheap and I'll be looking around too so if I find anything cheaper than $500 I'll post it.

Thx
DJ Sean
Hey DJ Cheesy..I am pretty sure that the cheapest Technic 1200's come for is about $450 for MK2's and $499 for M3D's...I got my M3D's for $499 at a local Guitar center...good luck bro..
DJ Cheesy
Yeah, I've seen them (M3D) at Guitar Center for $499 but did you know that if you bring in an advertisement for cheaper price or print out a website that has a cheaper price Guitar Center will match that price. My friends and I do it every time we buy something from there and I think they're probably getting pretty pissed, we've saved a few hundred bucks. Whenever they see us walk in they probably think "Oh no, it's those guys that always price match..."
DJ Cheesy
Ok, I've found a few prices myself, here they are (these are all in US dollars):

http://www.123dj.com/
1200M3D: $468.99 http://www.123dj.com/turntable/tech...L-1200MK3D.html
1200MK2: $459 http://www.123dj.com/turntable/technics/SL-1200MK2.html
1210MK2: $449 http://www.123dj.com/turntable/technics/SL-1210MK2.html

http://store.yahoo.com/hollywooddj/
1200M3D $469 http://store.yahoo.com/hollywooddj/tecsl1.html
1200MK2 $449 http://store.yahoo.com/hollywooddj/tecsl.html

http://www.etronics.com/
1200M3D $457 http://www.etronics.com/product.asp...e=techsl1200m3d

http://www.lgdsuperstore.com/
1200M3D $456.99 http://www.lgdsuperstore.com/sl1200m3d.html

These prices are better but I'm really looking for low 400's. I heard of someone who got them for $380 (new) and thats would be great. It really doesn't matter if I can order from them, I just need a webpage I can print out to get the Guitar Center people to price match.
TranceGeek
dude, just make your own webpage and make up some prices
lol
DJ Cheesy
lol, thats called fraud, i'm already cheating them out of money as it is by price matching

I found the Technics SL-1210mk2 (same as the 1200mk2 only different color) for 399$...
www.audiolines.com , www.pssl.com ... both have it at this price.
DJ Cheesy
OK, I could go for 1210's, my only question is whats the difference between the different models:

SL-1200MK2 This is your standard 1200, black or silver

SL-1210 This is black and has switchable voltage (120 and 240) and I also heard it has a rubber bottom which makes it heavier but more durable, is this true? Any other diferences? Pros? Cons?

SL-1200M3D The updated version of the 1200MK2 with a different pitch control (the pitch lock button) and slightly higher torqe.

Also, I was reading a thread about the M3D and there was some confusion one the naming. Are the MK3, MK3D, and M3D all the same?

from what I understand YES
DJ Cheesy
Hey guys, sorry for bringing this thread back (for future reference, would you prefer I start a new one?) but hopefully it will be helpful for me as well as other people.

I am getting ready to buy some Technics, but the prices have changed in the past couple of months. I think I want the M3Ds, basically cause of the pitch lock, and they're newer. Plus I can price match at GuitarCenter. So right now the lowest price on the M3D's I've seen is $450 from etronics.com. Anyone seen lower?

DJ Cheesy
anyone? anyone?
Harley
