Hey all,

I finished my remix of the deservedly much-praised original by Martyn yesterday and upped the full version to my server. I tried to add some new elements and twists redesigning my own style a bit. I hope you like it.

Download here :

Echano - Nothing To Live For (Icone Remix)

Lemme know what you think.

sounds damn nice man...

really like that thingie (dunno what to call it.. hehe) that fades in at 0:45 or something like that.

the break is also really nice... the rain/wind and the piano really gives a "nothing to live for" feeling.

hmm... the second piano that is coming in and when the lead is coming in, it kinda give's a feeling of hope thou.. hehe

or maybe it's just me that has a hangover.. dunno.. :p

i like the new touch to the melodie :)

but imo the melodie should be stronger

I'm liking this. Flows really well, and love that clap/snare sound. Almost sounds like its just white noise, buts its a gr8 sound anyway.

I'm liking the pads coming in around 2:00, bass is really driving too.Like the little pitch bend towards the end of the bar.Really helps the track to flow.

Synth just b4 the piano comes in excellent work. Was expecting it to carry on with that and start getting harder, but as usual you got a twist, and it goes all chilled. Georgous sparkle/wind effect.

THERE IS HOPE!!!

Main lead sounds propa wicked! Its a nice arp.Got a big old smile on me face as its coming in, nice chord change aswell.

Claps there again, just helping it flow along, still rushing aswell, almost a feeling that there is more the come.

NICE BREAKBEAT!!! I love break in trance, simple but really effective. Now I'm propa getting jiggy now. L-o-V-e the way you brought the standard 4-4 beat back.

Overall, gr8 production. Prefer more energetic personally, but on a production level, this is extremly pro sounding.

good remix, nice twist on the original..

build-up is wicked, everything well balanced.

the break is fantastic, wicked strings you used there! i'm not too fond of the piano, as it does not blend that well with the strings, but it doesn't sound completely out of place, so it's not all that bad. :)

main melody is a surprise, heh. never heard anything alike.. it'll take a while for it to grow on me, but it is definitely something that stands out. i'd increase the volume a tiny bit though, as the strings seem to take away some of it's clarity.

percussion is very good. but there's this tambourine type of sound that is a bit loud in the mix.. otherwise no problems at all.

definitely a very interesting track, well produced!
i'll listen to it some more..

This is really awesome, I'm really liking the FX and such but the only thing thats wrong with it is the melody. The original has such a nice melody its kind of a shame that its overpowered here by the synths. Great work tho!

You're very prolific.:) Listening...

One thing that struck me during the intro was that synth that comes in at 0:27, its very sharp and sounds like it has too much res, kinda throws me off a little bit. Maybe thicken it up a bit and round it off, a nice filtered pulsewave in Ronski Speed style could work there.

Veeeeeery nice pads. They compliment the piano very well.

The whole breakdown is amazing, great work!

Sounds nice right up until the end.

Fix that one problem and this is probably my favorite track from you.

Wow, this is great Wim.
Love what you've done with the melody.
And that little synth on the intro is cool :)

10/10 :D

2nd best mix of this song (nothing beats the original). I say it all with that;).

Thanks for the comments guys! :)

I didn't want to ruin the power of the strings with the 'main' melody, guess that was my idea to keep it a bit low. I'll check if it sounds better when increased a bit.

I think you're referring to the acid-type bass layer there, SoM? You're right it sounds a bit sharp, I'll check if it sounds better there as well when filter cutted a bit more. Thanks for pointing out.

Thanks for the help and kind words peepz ;)
Cheers,
Wim

I'm listening at this moment...

Nice little intro you got going here so far. The synths sound pro, and crisp.

Kicks aren't too bad either. Pretty good. The synths are SUPER crisp, and the bass is SUPER hyped up! Dude man, :eyespop: you weren't kidding when you said you were trying something different.

At this moment, I am respecting this song. After working for 4 days constantly building synths, making scores, melodies, and ambient effects, I am totally drained mentally. :( But dude man, you happen to deliver that 'powerful' sound quite easily.

You've made drastic improvements Wim. The piano's sound good in this mix, and the FX in that break down (that wind/water ambient effect) are AMAZING! I am totally in love with that scene, and many images flooded my mind in that scene. Quality man! Those are the kinda effects I love to hear man!

The pads, the choirs, the synths, the breakdown, and all the things I mentioned make this track worth hearing. Before, I was kinda annoyed by your sound, but I am REALLY appreciating your efforts now! This is like the 5th song in a row that has really impressed me Wim! You decided to make these sounds on your own, and I respect that! Keep this up! I admire your attitude, and it is certainly an inspiration to me!

hmm

this remix sounded great untill the main lead came in, sounds way ott for this track, doesn't seem to fit at all.

The percs need to be brought out a bit more too, I can hardly hear the clap.

this is better stuff than Ive heared from you in a while, but that lead just bugs me.
