| *see topic title* Would it be possible too? I'm getting this, a VMX100, and really need to know if I can hook it up as an external mixer with Traktor. |

I've never used traktor, but from what I understand you'de need 2 independent outputs on your soundcard... each output playing the separate wavs/mp3s
then you run those outputs into the inputs on your mixer, then the output from the mixer into your speaker setup and into your 'line in' on your soundcard
so basically due to the nature of soundcards not having independent outputs, the answer to your question is no :o |

The VMX100 is just a normal 2 channel analog mixer. It's no problem at all to use Traktor with an external mixer. All you need is a multichannel soundcard even as lowly as the Soundblaster Live. Or an Audigy 2, etc.
Then set the Traktor audio configuration to bypass the internal software mixer and use the external mixer. Voila. |

| Danke tvmann. I'll go to the EOCF and get some info on the type of soundcard that would be the best to get. |

| I'm using the VMX200 with PCDJ software, and for sound cards a Philips PSC706 (surround sound) and also the onboard sound card on my motherboard. The Philips sound card uses the front output for Player A and the rear output for Player B (both signals going to the mixer). The mixer output goes into the Line In of the onboard sound card where it is recorded and played back through my computer speakers. The headphones are connected through the Phones Out on the VMX200. |

| Check out the Indigo Echo DJ soundcard for laptops. It has two output jacks, perfect for Traktor. |

| if u have an SB Live or any other 5.1 or better soundcard.., just hook up cables from the green output on your soundcard to one channel on your mixer and from the black(centre speaker output) to another channel.., select use external mixer under traktor options, and you're pretty much set. |

Anyone else did this before moving to djing with TT?
Is it advisable to do this (mixing with ext. mixer with computer software) to start off as to get the kick of djing? I'm thinking if i wanna try this out first because i don't want to regret after buying all the equipments and lost interest in a short period of time. |
