australia came in 4th in the medals tally at the sydney 2000 olympic games - australia was #1 by population

on another note, there is this curse that makes Australia lose every single one of their qualifier matches, they just choke, similar to Holland, Holland has a ****ing good team but choke on the important games. Aus beat and tied with france in their prime, under 21's team is one of the best in the world etc
and Georgie, i would kick your arse at soccer :P

I think the reason Britain (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) are so at sports is mainly due to alcohol! Your Australian, we see Carl off of Neighbours and look on in absolute bemusment that he is considered alcoholic cos he has a glass of wine every few days! Also, there is not enough investment at grass routs level for all sports. Not sure how its worked in Australia, but I get the impression sport is considered extremely important, whilest over here its just summat to do.

Haha, never take anything on neighbours seriously. Everything is stupidly watered down to get a nice G rating, essentially so all the pre-teens can watch some 'nice clean tv'. :rolleyes:
It's without a doubt the crappiest and/or worst show I've seen in my entire life. I'd assume that we (Aussies) enjoy alcohol just as much (If not more). :p
Neighbours can't really show anything 'raunchy' (Drinking, sex, nudity, bad language) due to the timeslot that it's shown at down here. It's primary audience is kids, hence there being no 'real life' stuff on it. Trust me, we think the whole 'a glass of wine every few days = someone being drunk' is pretty damn stupid as well.

1. I dont drink ale as it is minging
2. I drink lager (which is fizzy so a lot harder to down than flat ale!)
3. I physically would find it impossible to down 2.5 pints of water in 11 seconds, let alone owt else!
I have however, developed a nasty habit of drinking 6 pints while watching football matches on the TV, and then going on a bender all night. Maybe alcoholism is summat we share culturally. Not sure whether you could out drink us 'poms'* but one things for sure - their aint one yank alive who could come close!!!
* surely you are the Poms? Your the criminals, us English are the ones left behind as we weren't prisoners, so that makes all u lot the poms (unless of course, it is an aboriginal sayng?!?!) |
